**Job Description**:
The School Based Mental Health (formerly COMPASS) Child and Youth Worker position provides Mental Health support to children and youth attending elementary and secondary schools by providing consultation, assessment, implementation and delivery of a diverse range of treatment services. The Child and Youth Worker - School Based Mental Health position is covered by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union on behalf of its local 355.

**This is a temporary contract position with a contract length of 10 months.**

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Deliver individual treatment to identified child/youth;
- Deliver a variety of evidenced-based and evidenced-informed programs;
- Deliver Primary Care Triple-P to parents as required;
- Liaise with and support families;
- Collaborate with and provide strategies to teaching personnel;
- Facilitate internal and external referrals for additional services to support the child/youth and family as needed;
- Provide presentations/workshops as requested and other duties to enhance mental health services in the school community.

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum Child and Youth Worker diploma.
- Must be registered and in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
- Minimum of five years of relevant experience working in children’s mental health including working with school systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently is required.
- Practitioner training and experience in Triple P Primary Care and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy are required.
- Trained in InterRai ChyMH assessment tool would be an asset.
- Training in Suicide Risk Assessment/support (ASIST by Living Works) considered an asset and/or other youth suicide intervention training.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Clinical documentation ability (ie. report writing, safety plans, etc) is essential.
- Ability to manage direct service and demands of clinical documentation (ie. report writing, safety plans, etc) according to agency standard.
- Travel is required for this position; the successful incumbent must have a valid Ontario driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle and be willing to obtain automobile insurance which includes driving for business purposes with a minimum liability of one million dollars.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including a Vulnerable Sector Screening) and Pre-Employment Medical.
