As a communications specialist, you have a passion for creating informative and engaging content for student audiences that enhances their experience. You value a student-first communications approach, have exceptional writing and editing skills, and think strategically to customize communication plans in order to meet strategic business objectives.

You also have a passion for digital solutions and data analysis. In this role, you’ll develop and manage content for our student content management system, review performance metrics and report on effectiveness, and make recommendations for student experience content planning.

Located in Barrie and reporting to the Manager, Communications, your specific duties will include, but are not limited to:

- Leading a communication needs assessment, gap analysis and planning exercise for student-facing services including Co-op and Career Success, Student Success, Student and Learning Services, and Libraries and Academic Success (excludes RO)
- Reaching a primary audience of current students and a secondary audience of college employees, creating strategies and leading tactical execution across multiple digital and traditional channels
- Developing communications strategies and priorities to support delivery of an unrivaled student experience.
- Working collaboratively with Marketing, Communications and Recruitment (MCR) colleagues to ensure optimization of efforts across all student and prospect-facing initiatives.
- Acting as key MCR liaison on student-facing digital innovation projects - from planning through to implementation - including, but not limited to EAB Navigate, ServiceNow and Blackboard Ultra
- Advocating for communication best practices and integration of digital innovation projects to ensure best user experience for students.
- Recommending and developing communication plans and tactics that support the launch, adoption, and ongoing success of the student-facing digital innovation projects.
- Working with the communications manager and corporate communications specialist, advising, and assisting with employee change communications on student-facing DI projects
- Advising on marketing and recruitment opportunities and unique value propositions related to student-facing digital innovation initiatives.
- Recommending appropriate metrics and opportunities to collect data to support analysis of communication efforts.
- Regularly analyzing the effectiveness of communication efforts to students and their preferences and making recommendations to modify approach as a result.
- Reporting metrics to MCR leadership team and discussing recommended approaches.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Successfully completed a three-year postsecondary diploma/degree in communications, public relations, digital marketing, or another related field.
- Three years’ experience in the area of communications leading / coordinating all aspects of a multi-faceted communication plan(s)
- Experience working with multi-functional groups whereby you advocate, negotiate and present best marketing and communications practices in group meetings and exchanges.
- Experience researching, writing, and executing comprehensive communications plans that include digital and traditional channels.
- Demonstrated copywriting abilities for web and content marketing materials, including knowledge of Canadian Press style.
- Computer skills and experience in MS Office and content management systems (preferably WordPress and SharePoint)
- Proven time management and organizational skills to set priorities and handle multiple responsibilities with tight deadlines.
- Proven communication (written and oral) skills to work with stakeholders and collect accurate information.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to use analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in a communications role within a postsecondary environment is an asset.
