**Position Overview**:Reporting directly to the QA Manager, the QA Supervisor functions as an integral member of the QA management team and is responsible for establishing and maintaining food safety and quality programs ensuring that there is no risk to the public and customer satisfaction levels meet their expectations.

**Coverage in case of Absence**:In the absence of a QA Supervisor, the Quality Assurance Manager and or designated QA/Lab technologist will cover his/her designated post. The Quality Assurance Manager will serve as the backup for SQF Practitioner duties.

**Core Deliverables**:

- Maintain Quality and Food Safety program according to SQF code, including all relevant documentation to enable correct document control.
- Support the implementation, and maintenance of the SQF system
- Responsible for supervision of Quality and Sanitation/janitorial staff including handling of employee relations issues, performance management, scheduling, etc.
- Assist QA Manager in conducting management review of the Quality System (e.g. audit findings, customer feedback, suppliers, data establishing process trends, ‘KPI’s).
- Support in providing leadership, including technical assistance, to all departments through the implementation and management of effective and efficient quality, food safety and sanitation programs and practices in conformance to food safety procedures and legislative requirements.
- Ensure all standards for quality and food safety as per Company SOPs are met. Ensure all relevant employees are trained according to internal training schedules and matrix.
- Support in 3rd party audits, ensuring the entire Operations team to be audit ready.
- Ensure that the lab operates efficiently providing timely, accurate and reproducible test results, and supplies are maintained.
- Complete annual validations of quality, sanitation, allergen and other food safety programs, as applicable
- Implement GMP rules and record keeping of non-conformances in the Internal Audit Report
- Conduct internal GMP audits, process audits and 5S audits as required
- Responsible for managing, monitoring, and improving the Hold Program and work with other plant team members and management team towards hold closures
- Maintain and support validate of the HACCP program
- Oversee product/customer releases.
- Oversee daily quality analysis for ongoing production as: in process evaluation, target/sample analysis - chemical and physical, samples collection, ensure labels, line check sheets and weight control for finished products are prepared, in process and on packaging CCP checks, receiving activities such as testing incoming bulk ingredients, supplier COA verification, incubation & retained sample check, calibration of lab equipment
- Establish & oversee the maintenance of administration activities required for operational effectiveness of QC/QA Department through verification of:

- Glass audit, internal audits, incubation & retained sample check, micro samples, lab equipment calibration, Plant Holds, sanitation, supplier complaints, customer complaints,
- Ensure all necessary lab samples (micro, chemical, environmental, RTW, nutritional) are taken and results evaluated
- Support recall program, update as needed and initiate mock recalls
- Verify quality and production related records and other data including CCP information and ingredients used as per process formulation
- Report any food safety or quality concerns immediately to management
- Perform other duties as assigned

**Required skill, ability & knowledge to**:

- Manage QA/QC activities and procedures related to food safety requirements
- Provide information and answer quality related questions for internal and external inquiries
- Assist in training team members in job duties and quality procedures
- Solve problems independently in consultation with the upper management as per standard guidelines and procedures
- Supervise staff, including coaching, mentoring, training and disciplining as needed
- SQF Practitioner

**Qualifications/Experience**:

- 3-5 years’ experience in a Quality department with progression to management level with at least 3-5 years’ experience in food processing or related industry
- Post secondary education in food science or engineering, technology is highly preferred
- Proven people management skills
