YOUTH PROGRAM COORDINATOR

Numbers of positions: 2

**Job Type**: Part-Time Contract

Term Duration: Immediately - June 24th, 2023

Wage: $18.25 / hour

Anticipated Shift:

- Position 1 - Aberdeen Club: Mondays and Wednesdays 3:00pm - 6:00pm (plus additional admin time)
- Position 2 -Dalhousie/Carpathia Clubs: Monday - Thursday 3:00pm -6:00pm (plus additional admin time)

Our Youth Program Coordinators require a strong understanding of child and youth development, conflict resolution and mediation techniques and small group dynamics. They need considerable experience working in cross-cultural settings, experience managing staff or volunteers as well as experience activity program planning for a variety of ages, skills, and interests.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Youth Program Coordinator’s responsibilities include but are not limited to managing, planning, organizing, delivering, and supervising all aspects of the part-time After School Project. They provide front-line supervision and support to children, youth, staff and volunteers. The Youth Program Coordinator directs the planning, delivering, and supervising of recreation projects for participants ages 6-18. The Youth Program Coordinator is responsible for ensuring project goals and objectives are reached.

MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:

- Valid and clean Full Class 5 Driver’s License and willing to acquire a Class IV License.
- Access to a reliable vehicle
- Experience supervising and managing staff or volunteer.
- Demonstrated skills in planning children and youth activities and events.
- Knowledge and understanding of youth development, experiential learning, and the impact of trauma.
- Experience working in cross-cultural settings and sensitive to diverse cultures.
- Knowledge of behaviour management and group management techniques.
- Has a strong commitment to social justice, EDI and truth and reconciliation.
- Proven administration and budget management skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Post-secondary degree or College Diploma in Social Work, Education, Youth Care or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
- Current and valid NVCI Certification (or willing to acquire).
- Emergency First Aid and CPR.
