**CONTRIBUTING TO THE CMPA**
Physician Support and Wellness’ (PSW) departmental mission is to foster and champion physician wellbeing, while mitigating medico-legal risk, supporting the delivery of safe medical care, and promoting principles of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI). Through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, the department uses a multi-pronged approach to support members and promote physician wellbeing at the individual and systemic levels.
**POSITION OVERVIEW**
Reporting to the Manager, Planning and Projects, the Medical Legal Data Specialist plays a key role in helping the department realize its strategic vision and implement its operational goals. The Medical Legal Data Specialist collaborates with internal stakeholders (including but not limited to Senior Leadership, Medico-Legal services (MLS), Membership Services, Research & Analytics, Strategy & Operations) to understand their needs and then provide input to meet stakeholders’ analysis needs. The incumbent develops reports that support planning and reporting efforts and works with the Data and Business Intelligence team (BI) to support the automation of corporate reporting and data quality improvement activities. This role provides input and guidance on the analysis required (quantitative and qualitative) to support ongoing departmental initiatives, and on specific reporting mechanisms. Additionally, this role acts a lead on analytical projects, providing direction, coaching and mentoring to project team members. The Medical Legal Data Specialist works closely with internal team members to refine tools and processes to foster optimal project and data management. The incumbent plays a crucial role in harmonizing approaches to data gathering, analysis, and reporting, ensuring efficient utilization of resources, avoiding redundancy, and providing timely and quality services to internal stakeholders. This position is an opportunity to combine technical expertise and communication skills with creativity to produce strategic, relevant, and objective intelligence.
**POSITION ACTIVITIES**
**Measuring Performance and Managing Data Collection Procedures**
- Work with internal stakeholders to understand and guide their data and reporting needs.
- Monitor, analyze and streamline data collection processes and systems to ensure consistency and relevance of data to support management decision making.
- Determine data limitations and generate solutions to address limitations and improve processes.
- Establish performance reporting procedures and develop standardized reporting templates.
- Design, develop and maintain performance tracking and measuring systems and practices that will support success in achieving long-term corporate goals and operational performance commitments.
- Supports corporate data initiatives such as data quality improvement, metadata management and data stewardship activities.
- Performs gap analysis and data analysis on a variety of datasets and collaborates with data stewards to perform data quality assessments.
- Plays a key role in facilitating identification and resolution of data issues with key CMPA stakeholders (Business Intelligence (BI), data stewards, data owners, source system experts, and knowledge experts) that surface within data governance initiatives.

**Data Quality and Performance Management Applications and Solutions**
- Deliver regularly scheduled performance reports and analysis to management team and present on potential quality solutions where required.
**Lead **P**rojects and **I**nitiatives**
- Collaborate and connect data needs across departments and leverage key data sets from various stakeholders
- Work closely with senior management to ensure alignment of projects with strategic priorities
- With the Manager, Projects & Planning, and senior management, develop a framework to effectively prioritize the multiple concurrent projects the department is involved in so as to support Council, Strategic Enabler, operational, MLS and PSW work
- Supports leadership with identification of key data trends, analysis and preparation of presentations for leadership, council and committee use.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with team members, internal stakeholders and senior management to coordinate work and promote strong team functioning.
- Collaborate with team members by providing mentoring and coaching in the areas of data analysis and reporting.
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field of study.
- A minimum of 5+ years of related experience in quantitative data analysis, preferably within a health care setting.
