Get to know the business

AIG Excess Casualty provides Umbrella and Excess Liability for many Insureds. We offer insurance coverage solutions under many complex insurance programs. In addition, we have an extremely broad appetite for many industries including and not limited to Power Generation and Utilities, Mining, Commercial Real Estate, Property Management, Financial Institutions, Technology and Manufacturing, Transportation, Oil and Gas and Alternative Energy. Coverage provides worldwide territory, and we have the capabilities to offer locally admitted policies written in conjunction with our Canadian policy placements. Our team works on accounts with different coverage triggers of Occurrence, Claims made and Integrated Occurrence. We also work very closely with our Primary Casualty teams and our Claims professionals.

**Responsibilities**:

- Production and underwriting of profitable new and renewal Excess Casualty business.
- Risk selection and analysis using logical methodical underwriting tools and methods to support decisions.
- Ensuring all accounts are underwritten and structured with full regard to risk and profitability.
- Ensuring all files are well documented and comply with departmental requirements.
- Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with our broker partners; marketing presentations/relationship management to help develop business flow.
- Respond to mid-term servicing requirements and account specific mid-term requirements.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues for a One AIG multi-line approach, maximizing each opportunity.
- Identify cross selling opportunities.
- Grow targeted business and maintain profitability.

What we are looking for:

- Experience with Excess and Umbrella Coverage including full understanding of all underlying coverages that are scheduled under an Umbrella and Excess policies.
- Experience in Commercial Property & Casualty Underwriting is a plus.
- Strong policy wording knowledge.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness for continuous improvement.
- University degree or college diploma.
- Excellent customer service and negotiation skills.
- Ability to operate independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Experience in reviewing Casualty Loss control and/or Engineering Reports is welcomed.
- Strong decision-making skills.
- A desire to stay up to date with industry, legal & regulatory trends.
