Emergency preparedness is a critical aspect of CCH operations. It is essential that all staff and physicians receive training and understand their roles and responsibilities in this field.

**Summary of responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Day Treatment Program, the Mental Health Counsellor works collaboratively with children and youth identified as being at risk for or who are experiencing mental health issues and possibly concurrent addiction or substance use problems that affect their functioning in some areas such as at home, school, and/or in the community. The Mental Health Counsellor embodies a culture of caregiver inclusion in the child’s/youth’s plan of care. The Mental Health Counsellor is responsible for managing the clients’ file and is required to perform screening/intake duties, provide counselling services and regular support to children and youth in the Intensive Treatment Services/Day Treatment program, monitor clients’ progress and work collaboratively with family/caregivers, agencies involved, as well as other multidisciplinary professionals within the organization. The Mental Health Counsellor will provide treatment in-person, virtually, and in the community (i.e. home, school, satellite offices) as required.

**Requirements of the job**:

- College diploma in Human Services Field
- Experience working with children, youth and families in a clinical setting (3 years minimum)
- Strong counselling skills in the area of children’s development and children’s mental health
- Knowledge of community resources
- Training in child development and child and youth mental health
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with community partners
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Good computer skills
- Certified in Non Violent Crisis Intervention
- Demonstrated regular, punctual attendance
- Demonstrated commitment to client safety
- Valid driver's license in good standing and access to own transportation
- Able to provide counselling services in the community (i.e. in home, school, satellite offices) and virtually in addition to in-office services as required.
- Functional level in English (oral and written)
