**The Opportunity**

Together, we conserve and restore some of the most valuable and threatened landscapes on the planet.

As an intern, you will provide support to the Boreal Conservation Programs team to deliver on projects that contribute to wetland conservation and stewardship across Canada’s boreal forest. This is a full-time (35 hour/week), 8-month internship from May to December 2023, based in Edmonton with DUC’s National Boreal Program.

Your strong information gathering, and written communication skills will assist you in synthesizing emerging research and literature in a concise manner to internal staff, external partners and contacts. You will also play a key role in delivering on several knowledge mobilization activities including developing the Wetland Knowledge Exchange monthly newsletter and managing our social media accounts.

In this position, there will also be opportunities for field work including wetland vegetation and soil surveys and supporting the delivery of wetland-based training with stakeholders. As a member of the Conservation Programs Team, you will have the opportunity to participate in workshops and meetings with external partners from Industry, Government and other stakeholder groups. Depending on the intern’s experience and interests, there are opportunities to work on additional projects of interest within the larger Boreal Program.

**Qualifications/Requirements**
- Successful completion of at least two years of study in an environmental field (e.g., biology, forestry)
- Interest in wetland and waterfowl conservation
- Knowledge of wetland and waterfowl conservation issues and industry activities in Canada’s boreal forest
- Fluent in English
- Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required
- Detail-oriented
- Strong information gathering skills
- Strong written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of programs
- Experience writing or designing newsletters or other knowledge mobilization experience would be considered an asset
- Ability to prioritize, work independently, and manage time effectively to maximize productivity
- Positive and professional behavior
- Ability to travel occasionally

**Salary Range : $43,000 - $46,000**
