Recreation Leader - After-School Programs - (Ages 6 - 13 years)
Part Time: Up to 10+ hours per week. Rate: $17.68 per hour
Société Place Maillardville Society is a not-for-profit organization that provides recreation programs and services to families in the Maillardville and greater Coquitlam area. We help unify and strengthen our community by enriching lives through community programs, community development and volunteerism.
Place Maillardville Society is looking for Recreation Leaders to plan and deliver a variety after-school recreation programs at local elementary and middle schools in the Maillardville area. You must be knowledgeable of a variety of sports, games and activities for children 6-13 years of age. This season we are also offering some introductory children’s cooking classes. Starting in September 2023, you must be available for a minimum of 2 shifts per week, Monday to Friday, between 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm. Hours with this position will vary by season.
Qualifications:
- Must be kind, fun, conscientious team member.
- Experience organizing, planning and leading child and/or youth activities.
- Knowledge of common sports and games and the ability to lead these activities. Activities may include cooking, board games, sports, crafts, and more.
- Must be able to make programs fun and engaging, and be a mentor to participants.
- Must be able to communicate in an effective, professional and friendly manner with children, parents, school administration, supervisors and co-workers.
- Must be able to maintain program discipline and ensure a safe and secure environment for a group of 12 + participants. **Ability to work independently and as part of a team.**:
- Licenses: Current Standard First-Aid CPR C/ AED certificate. Successful applicants must complete a Police Information Check. High Five Training would be an asset. Those interested in delivering cooking classes must have food safe.
**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 10 per week
**Salary**: $17.68 per hour
