About the Role:

The City of Coquitlam is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Recreation Leader to join our Parks, Recreation, Culture and Facilities team. As a Recreation Leader, you will play a key role in the development and implementation of youth-related recreational programs and services at City facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of recreational programs and services for youth at City facilities
  • Participate in programming and directing the work of program leaders, instructors, and volunteers
  • Promote interest and encourage youth participation in program activities
  • Provide guidance and advising to facility users on specified activities
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external contacts for program planning, development, and coordination

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Recreation from a recognized Community College
  • Community recreation experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • First Aid/CPR - C Certification
  • Valid BC Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Experience working with a variety of ages within recreation facilities (an asset)
  • Additional training such as High Five Principles, Physical Literacy, NCCP, PDP, or ECE (an asset)
