At **SMS Equipment**, our **OHSE Advisor’s** ensure that SMS employees have the knowledge, tools and support needed to work in a safety conscious manner. The **OHSE Advisor** is responsible for creating a work environment which maintains and improves employee’s general health and safety. We are looking for someone who has a strong safety awareness and enjoys working in a collaborative environment.

The shift rotation for this position is **Monday - Friday, 8 hours per day** **and requires travel to other SMS branches and customer sites.

The salary range for this position is **$80,000 - $98,000.**

**Responsibilities include but are not limited too**:

- Collaborate with employees and management to identify and correct potential environment, safety and health hazards.
- Implement safety, health and environment standards and procedures.
- Advise, supports and guides Company environment, safety and health objectives.
- Contribute to and help with the preparation of audits for safety, health and environment programs for compliance with Company standards, government regulations, and adequacy relative to local conditions.
- Contribute to establishing standards for environment, safety and health.
- Participate in inspections of employee work areas on SMS/Customer sites and work with OHSE Supervisor and Management to ensure resolution of environment, safety and health issues, regulations and company practices.
- Assists in all matters regarding Safety filing, recording, and reporting.
- Coordinate monthly inspections, meetings and is a provided resource for the Safety Committee.
- Assist in the adaptation of policies, plans and programs to meet accepted objectives.
- Provide training to SMS personnel to ensure knowledge and competency in the operation of daily tasks throughout the Company is obtained.
- Create and teach specific training courses, workshops and seminars as required.
- Interact with external training consultants and internal resources to identify course objectives and content.

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum of 5 years experience in an OHSE position within an oil, gas or mining industry.
- CRSP designation is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office specifically Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Effectively able to work to deadlines and to own initiative.
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to clearly articulate information and processes.
- Experience in competency-based training is an asset.
