**Community Engagement & Events Manager**

**Location**:Campbell River

**Reports to**:Executive Director

Committed to the philosophy of Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North (Habitat
VIN), the Community Engagement & Events Manager will be a ‘people person’ with exceptional communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to work under tight deadlines, and will be self-directed with a passion for teamwork.

The Community Engagement & Events Manager is responsible for all aspects of Community
Engagement and Events delivery in the communities we serve.

**Required Qualifications**:

- A valid Class 5 Driver's License and own transportation.
- Vulnerable sector Criminal Records Check.
- Ability to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for community members,

Habitat families and volunteers.
- Effective time-management practices and strong written, verbal and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to think strategically and manage competing priorities, demonstrates resourcefulness and independence, but is comfortable working within a team-oriented environment.
- Having a can-do attitude and being a natural relationship builder who behaves in a manner that fosters a positive atmosphere throughout the organization;
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
- Currently possess First Aid Level I, WHMIS and FoodSafe Level I certifications required or a willingness to obtain these certifications at Habitat’s expense.
- A commitment to Habitat for Humanity’s mission and a drive to understand the organization’s work.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Familiarity with Microsoft Office or Google Suite.
- Community Engagement and/or Community Relations experience
- Event management experience.
- Experience working with, and a passion for, non-profits.

**Projects/ Special Events**
- Work with Habitat VIN team members to plan and execute Habitat VIN events, including but not limited to: family recruitment, key and groundbreaking ceremonies, volunteer recognition events, fundraising initiatives and holiday celebrations.
- Support Team Builds, including but not limited to scheduling with the Build

Department, liaising and supporting the needs of the Communication Department
- Co-Coordinate the annual Meaning of Home Contest.
- Lead Habitat’s involvement in community engagement activities for the Comox

Valley and Campbell River.

**General**:

- Develop and participate in opportunities to connect with the community for volunteer recruitment, donor acquisition, family recruitment, and to build community awareness of Habitat VIN. This includes building relationships with other community organizations, attending networking/promotional events, and making presentations.
- Liaise with Habitat Canada and other organizations to continue learning and ensure best practices for community engagement.
- Attend staff meetings, team meetings, and other meetings as required including meetings coordinated by Habitat Canada.
- Prepare reports as required.
- Other duties as required

**Working Conditions**:
Hours: 30 hours a week, with the opportunity for growth.

Flexible hours between Monday to Friday, some weekend and evening work required.

Location: Campbell River

Schedule:
