**Position Summary**:
The Supervisor, Regulatory Compliance is responsible for regulatory compliance functions within the Facility Services and Planning Department. This position requires a highly qualified and energetic person responsible for supervision and management of the Board’s environmental assets, provides support and customer service to Facility Services supervisors, employees, and ensures that the Board is compliant with regulatory compliance, legislation, codes and Board standards pertaining to facilities and property. This includes water quality, air quality, life safety, and maintenance, tracking, and record keeping related to environmental liabilities of the Board.

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for Water Quality and Safety and Communications

Responsible for safe drinking water for small drinking water system compliance (O. Reg 170/03)

Responsible for lead testing and flushing program for all schools (O. Reg. 243.07)

Responsible for premise isolation (backflow preventers) maintenance and testing ensuring compliance with municipal and township by-laws

Responsible for Asbestos Management, Testing, and Maintenance Program

Responsible for annual inventory maintenance requirements for all schools (O. Reg 275/05)

Responsible for oversight of contractors performing ACM removals, repair operations, maintenance, condition assessments, tracking of inventories, and updating of same

Air Quality Responsibly

Responsible for on-going quarterly maintenance and inspection of more than 300 portables across the region for mold and other air quality considerations

Will provide directions and oversight for investigative programs supporting air quality in schools

Fire Safety Plan, Life Safety, TSSA and ESA Responsibility

Responsible for liaison with Fire Departments across the region supporting each school’s Fire Safety Plan development and maintenance and including partnership/relationship development

Assessment of system level strategic planning to support life safety approach

Responsible for compliance with Technical Safety Standards Association (TSSA) and Electrical Safety Association (ESA) and support proactive solutions across the region

Responsible for compliance reporting for Facility Services and PlanningFacility Condition Assessment and backlog of more than $800M in renewal needs, and tracking of approximately $30M in annual renewal projects across the region through the Ministry’s reporting database, VFA

Responsible for tracking and maintaining the Board’s Environmental Liability Asset Retirement Obligation (ARO) valuation, and reporting

Other compliance reporting as needed to support the department

**Minimum Qualifications**:
3-4 year diploma degree in a related field

5 years experience in similar field of code compliance

Preferred Qualifications

4 year university degree in Chemistry, Biology, Building Sciences, or Environmental Engineering

Certified Hygienist

Certification in small drinking water operations

7 years experience in similar field of code compliance

Certified Industrial Hygienist

Small Drinking Water System Operations Certification

Asbestos Regulations Working Knowledge

Lead testing and flushing requirements in drinking water systems in schools
