**Overview**

**Responsibilities**:

- Connect individuals sleeping rough to resources that will improve their standard of living, such as housing, income, medical supports, and identification, accompany them to appointments, and advocate on their behalf
- Connect with street populations sleeping on public lands through intensive outreach in the River Valleys, parks, and other public places
- The Encampment Outreach Worker will maintain quality work records, ensuring accurate documentation and records are kept via case notes, assessments and safety plans
- To maintain participant files and perform administrative duties related to the program
- To ensure reporting requirements, including monthly reports, yearly program summaries and community updates
- Meeting participants either on the street, in-home, or transporting participants to appointments in the community
- Liaise with community agencies to foster a long-term support network for vulnerable Edmontonians, attend interdisciplinary service team meetings and provide support and advocacy for vulnerable Edmontonians
- Encampment Outreach Workers will be involved in outreach, providing direct support, services and harm reduction supplies to individuals
- Respond to crisis safely and professionally while following all safety protocols
- Discuss how to have a healthy level of co-existence, tolerance, and respect among all the relevant stakeholders, and determine best practice

**Qualifications**:

- To have a sound understanding and appreciation of Indigenous culture and issues
- Be able to create and maintain professional connections to community resources
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in counselling and case planning
- Knowledge of de-escalation techniques
- Knowledge of street culture and language
- Past advocacy experience preferred
- Knowledge of the neighborhoods, resources and population of Edmonton and area
- Ability to both interact and be comfortable with a diverse population
- Must be detailed-oriented
- Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to details
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible availability, including day, evening, and occasional weekend hours

**Requirements**:

- Diploma or post-secondary degree in Human Services, Child Welfare, or Justice
- Must own their own vehicle
- Must have $2 million Liability Insurance
- Must be able to pass Child Welfare Intervention Check
- Must be able to pass Police Security Vulnerability Check
- This unique position requires team members to walk long distances on rugged terrain, carrying bags with supplies that weigh between 20-25 pounds, all year round and in all weather conditions

Pay: $24.00-$28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week

Schedule:

- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed

**Education**:

- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
