Child Home Services **(CHS)** is one of the many service areas within New Directions. This service area offers a range of home supports (i.e., family supports, foster home, group care homes, individualized homes, independent living, mentored living) to children, youth, and families who are dealing with challenges related to the experience of trauma and/or living with a disability. Our community-based resources are designed to support connection with family and community, a sense of belonging, and provide opportunities to engage in a meaningful life. This is achieved by creating a home environment that welcomes the participation of the child or youth as a member, supporting their pursuit of interests and goals, and helping maintain and strengthen the bond between the child or youth and their significant others. We provide an environment that is non-judgmental, safe, and caring. The supports are provided 24 hours, 7 days a week, in fast-paced shift staffed homes operated by New Directions.

**Responsibilities include **(but are not limited to)**:

- Foster a spirit of teamwork, cooperation, and collaboration with team members and others
- Case management,
- Participate in the development of treatment plans,
- Supervise and evaluate a team of Youth Care Workers,
- Provide direct support to children and youth living in the homes,
- Oversight of training and scheduling of Youth Care Workers
- Track home maintenance and repairs, and Licensing Standards
- Budget, balance and account for monthly expenditures and administrative duties,
- Liaise with schools, neighbors, and social workers,
- Participate in the on-call rotation

**Qualifications and requirements for this role**:

- Applicants must have a B.S.W./B.A. (psychology, social work, or related field) with experience working with children in care and knowledge of licensing regulations for children’s residential settings.
- Minimum of three (3) years experience working with Level 4/5 children and youth
- Minimum one (1) year of supervisory experience in a community setting
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability and commitment to work with high needs children and youth.
- Strong organizational skills are required for this position.
- Ability to transfer knowledge and awareness into behaviors and expectations recognized as appropriate by members of identified cultures and by people with lived experience
- Knowledge of behavioral management and trauma-informed strategies are assets
- Experience with harm reduction approaches is considered an asset
- Comfortable providing support and interventions to dysregulated individuals in the home
- Valid driver’s license with access to a safe, reliable vehicle for work purposes
- Current First Aid/CPR
- Supervisory experience and ability to work with and mentor staff
- Understanding of person-centered approach
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training are considered assets.

The salary range for this permanent 80-hour bi-weekly position is $22.07 to $28.69 per hour, dependent upon education and/or experience. A full benefits package (which includes Health and Dental Benefits, Long Term Disability Benefits, and a Pension Plan) is provided to permanent full-time staff.
