**Child Home Services** **(CHS)** is one of the many service areas within New Directions. This service area offers a range of home supports (i.e., family supports, foster home, group care homes, individualized homes, independent living, mentored living) to children, youth, and families who are dealing with challenges related to the experience of trauma and/or living with a disability. Our community-based resources are designed to support connection with family and community, a sense of belonging, and provide opportunities to engage in a meaningful life. This is achieved by creating a home environment that welcomes the participation of the child or youth as a member, supporting their pursuit of interests and goals, and helping maintain and strengthen the bond between the child or youth and their significant others. We provide an environment that is non-judgmental, safe, and caring. The supports are provided 24 hours, 7 days a week, in fast-paced community home setting operated by New Directions.

We are currently seeking a Youth Care Home Supervisor for a specialized, one-bed home that is designed to assist children and youth to develop life skills, social skills and/or access community resources. Individual care and guidance is provided to align with the needs of the child/youth to assist with mental health issues, behavioral challenges, or addictions. We provide stabilization through predictable structures, clear expectations and positive behavior support.

**Responsibilities include **(but are not limited to)**:

- Case management,
- Counselling and developing treatment plans,
- Supervising and evaluating staff,
- Supporting the youth living in the home,
- Orienting, training and scheduling staff,
- Tracking home maintenance and repairs,
- Budgeting, balancing and accounting for monthly expenditures and administrative duties,
- Liaising with schools, neighbours, and social workers, and
- Working shifts, including cooking and light housekeeping duties during applicable shifts, and participating in the on-call rotation

**Qualifications and requirements for this role**:

- Applicants must have post-secondary education in a related field of study (ex. psychology, social work, Child & Youth Care) with experience working with children in care and knowledge of licensing regulations for youth residential settings
- Minimum of three (3) years experience working with Level 4/5 children and youth
- Minimum two (2) years of supervisory experience in a community-living setting
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability and commitment to work with high needs children and youth.
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to transfer knowledge and awareness into behaviors and expectations recognized as appropriate by members of identified cultures and by people with lived experience
- Knowledge of behavioral management
- Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed strategies
- Experience with harm reduction approaches is considered an asset
- Valid driver’s license with access to a safe, reliable vehicle for work purposes
- Current First Aid/CPR
- Understanding of person-centered approach
- American Sign Language (ASL) is considered an asset, and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training are considered assets.

The salary range for this 80-hour bi-weekly position is $22.07 to $28.69 per hour, dependent upon education and/or experience. This position is eligible for a full benefits package which includes Health and Dental Benefits, Long Term Disability Benefits, and a Pension Plan.
