**Summary of responsibilities**:
As an integral member of the Cornwall Community Hospital (CCH) Health Information Services, the Supervisor of Decision Support maintains the responsibility for supervising the Decision Support staff as well as contributing to the departmental goal of providing timely access to complete and accurate analysis and presentation of health information. The Supervisor will collaborate with the Manager to ensure that the department operates efficiently and professionally. This includes ensuring policies and procedures are consistently followed, staffing is appropriate, and expectations are communicated clearly. The Supervisor will recognize and acknowledge employees and help to create an environment that empowers staff to participate in positive change.

The Supervisor will work with the Decision Support team to provide comprehensive, robust reports to other members of the CCH team and external partners. The Supervisor will provide analysis of internal and external data sources to design and build informative visualizations and dashboards in order to support informed decision making and meet the information needs of the organization. The Supervisor will work to improve or create the databases, warehouses, and business intelligence solutions available to maximize the utility of the available data.

**Requirements of the job**:

- Perform detailed analysis of source data systems and create efficient processes to leverage available tools and optimize data use
- Work toward enhancing connectivity between isolated data sets
- Document business requirements in the form of specifications (functional and technical), validate accuracy and obtain necessary input for approval
- Support, follow and contribute to information governance and data and reporting standards established by the organization
- Responsible for accurate and timely extraction, interpretation, manipulation and presentation of internal and external data for reporting requirements with demonstrated expertise
- Understand end user requirements and determine most effective visualizations and reports. Ensure the reports are understood and respond to the requirements of the hospital
- Monitor and identify trends that show improvement or the need for improvements in indicators
- Responsible to work with Clinical Directors to provide them with standard monthly/quarterly reports that are meaningful to their decision making. Ensure the reports are understood and are responding to the requirements of the department
- At least 5 years experience with Health Data Analytics or Epidemiology
- Undergraduate degree in Data Analytics and/or Statistics/Statistical Analysis
- Master’s degree, preferred

**Key skills or competencies**:

- Skills in using data management, analysis, reporting tools
- Excellent interpersonal skills for interaction with staff, physicians, and management
- Effective in written and verbal communication and presentation
- SQL programming skills and proficiency with SQL server tools
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite as well as Big Data tools and languages (Python, Spark, Kafka, etc)
- Experience with HIS data reporting (Cerner preferred)
- Solid understanding of processes within healthcare
- Confidence and ability to provide coaching
- Excellent critical thinking skills with a strong attention to detail
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, interpersonal skills, and demonstrated ability to be consultative
- Flexible and responsive in a complex and dynamic environment
- Team-oriented
- Exceptional organization & time management skills; must be able to work and perform duties with no supervision and be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines
