The Kirsch lab at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre at University Health Network is a highly collaborative group that uses genetically engineered mouse models to study cancer and radiation biology. We seek a **Research Technician III or IV**, who can serve as a mouse colony manager to work with graduate students and post-docs to maintain a complex mouse colony with multiple mutant alleles. Experience breeding mice with conditional alleles, tattooing mice, and PCR genotyping is desired.

In addition to managing the mouse colony, the successful applicant will work with other scientists to deliver radiation therapy to mice to study mechanisms of normal tissue injury to radiation, test drugs that can mitigate radiation injury, and investigate how radiation therapy and immunotherapy can activate the immune system as a therapeutic strategy. The technician will also assist other scientists in the lab by initiating primary cancers in mice, following the mice for the development of metastases, and collecting tumor and normal tissues for analysis. The technician will also prepare animal protocols (AUP), maintain radiation isotope records, and analgesic records.

**Qualifications**
- At minimum, BSc or higher degree in biology, molecular biology, veterinary science, or a similar field of study
- At least six (6) years of experience with standard molecular biology laboratory techniques such as:

- Experience with PCR reaction set up and purification
- Live mouse handling, including breeding mice and genotyping
- A willingness to learn new techniques and technologies
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Meticulous and detail-oriented
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a team environment
