**How you’ll contribute**

As our HSE Specialist, you will be a member of the Human Resources leadership team and play a pivotal role in ensuring that our operations in Ontario meet the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance. Reporting to the Director, HSE, you will ensure a safe work environment and reinforce a positive safety culture by:

- Spending up to 30% to 40% of your time conducting on-site H&S audits, training, investigations, and regular inspections of our 17 branches across Southwestern Ontario, including at times our Ottawa location.
- Investigating Health & Safety incidents to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintaining Health & Safety performance, metrics, reporting, and recordkeeping requirements.
- Assisting with conducting hazard assessments and delivering Health & Safety training and awareness campaigns for employees to foster a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
- Assisting with the development of company Health, Safety, and Environmental programs, policies, procedures, and communications.
- Analyzing Health & Safety statistics to identify trends and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Providing support on sustainability metrics, framework, and initiatives / projects.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant federal, provincial, and local regulations and standards related to HSE.
- Participating in implementing HSE strategies that promote "Best in Class" safety programs.
- Other duties as required in the course of employment.

**What we’re looking for**
- Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree in related discipline
- Minimum 3 years of Health and Safety experience, preferably in equipment rentals, construction, or a similar field.
- Health and Safety certificate is a strong asset.
- CRSP and/or CIH/ROH designation or ability to achieve one or more of these designations is highly desirable.
- A valid G Class driver’s license and clean drivers abstract and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Access to a reliable vehicle and able to travel up to 30-40% of working hours for on-site visits.
- Proven experience in a Safety Specialist or similar role
- Excellent knowledge of federal, provincial, and local environmental and occupational health legislation and regulations as it relates to HSE.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
