**Job Title**: Procurement Specialist

**Position Type**: Full-time, Permanent

Portable Electric is a **Vancouver-based clean tech **equipment manufacturer, connecting teams to clean power all over the globe. PE designs, builds, rents and sells **Voltstack**®** Power Stations** - industrial grade, robust, clean energy alternatives to traditional gas and diesel generators that provide instant power whenever and wherever it’s needed.

We are looking for a **Procurement Specialist** to be responsible for sourcing, selecting and negotiating with approved vendors and placing purchase orders for production and MRO requirements. The Procurement Specialist position will be reporting to the Supply Chain Manager.

**Your Impact as a Procurement Specialist**:

- Analyze supply and demand to develop a procurement plan.
- Manage all aspects of purchases from requisition to delivery including issuing Purchase Orders, monitoring deliveries and invoices, maintaining spreadsheet or ERP data integrity in accordance with Purchasing guidelines and best practices.
- Create and update spreadsheets for tracking inventory, planning ordering schedules and calculating costs for purchases.
- Manage the Kanban system for consumable items. Review the bins each week in the factory to determine purchase requirements.
- Identify and manage parts for Lean Material Programs (right program, bin size, etc)
- Establish delivery schedules and expedite orders as needed. Monitor progress and contact and suppliers to resolve problems.
- Interface with customers on parts shortages or delays on anything that will affect their delivery.
- Analysis and reporting of material availability by product including identifying the last part in house dates.
- Work with engineering to obtain drawings, specifications or to discuss alternative part options.
- Assisting with issues related to invoicing and/or delivery, following up on returns or refunds for non-conforming materials.
- Develop and maintain supplier relationships, acting as an interface between suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor and maintain supplier performance and communicate results.
- Actively seek cost savings, documenting cost savings and contributing to the team's overall cost savings goals.
- Locate data in a variety of forms such as invoices, shipping receipts, special order request forms and new product information sheets.
- Judge the quality of products and evaluate the quality of service provided by suppliers.
- Negotiate pricing and contracts, resolve disputes, agreements, and terms with new suppliers and existing suppliers.

**Qualifications**:

- Post secondary education in Operations, Inventory or Purchasing Management
- Minimum 3 years of progressive planning /purchasing experience preferably within the electronics industry.
- Certificate in purchasing from the Purchasing Management Association of Canada is considered an asset.
- Enrolment in APICs or PMAC is preferred
- MRP / ERP system experience within a Supply Chain environment including purchasing and inventory.
- Lean Supply Chain experience would be beneficial.
- Ability to work independently, in addition in teams with co-workers to ensure effective planning and purchasing.
- Experience with electronic components purchasing an asset.
- Able to communicate with co-workers, customers and suppliers about operational matters.
- Able to be flexible and adaptable to ever-changing priorities.
- Proficient in MS Excel
