Reporting to the Director, Interprofessional Practice, Research & Education, the Manager, Spiritual & Religious Care will provide leadership and effective day-to-day management of Niagara Health Spiritual & Religious Care Program, overseeing spiritual and religious counseling services and psycho-spiritual support services while providing extraordinary caring to patients, families staff and students. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing all aspects of the service including staffing, scheduling and budget preparation and monitoring. The successful individual will also ensure the provision of appropriate, efficient and high quality Spiritual & Religious Care services and the Clinical Psychospiritual Education (CPE) program. They will also be responsible to provide spiritual care, counsel and crisis response to enhance the well-being of patients, families and staff and students to strengthen Niagara Health's commitment to provide holistic care by attending to the spiritual and psychosocial needs of the community.
**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Develop and implement a best practice and innovative spiritual care program that recognizes the diversity of the community and is consistent with Niagara Health's strategic plan, vision and values.
- Provide care that is respectful of religious, spiritual, and cultural diversity by supporting ethical discussion and difficult decision-making by patients, families, staff and students.
- Develop and implement a sustainable Clinical Psychospiritual Care Education (CPE) program for Niagara Health under the standards of the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC/ACSS).
- Provide direction, supervision and support to the Spiritual Care team, students and volunteers.
- Provide direct patient and family support as required.
- Provide direct support to staff as required by leading the Code Lavender response.
- Act as Hospital Liaison with Community Faith Partners.
- Lead annual and ad hoc spiritual celebrations and events.
- Support education opportunities for research and quality improvement in Spiritual Care.
Participate in the professional development of staff, students and volunteers with respect to spiritual and religious issues.
- Assist in the preparation and leading of Sacred Services within the Spiritual Care Program.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Completion of a Master's degree program in Theology or Spiritual Care.
- Membership with the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC/ACSS) is required.
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO)
Relevant Spiritual Care and clinical experience in a hospital setting.
- Demonstrates leadership amongst peers and clinical colleagues.
Superior knowledge of issues, principles and practices related to spiritual and religious care.
- Evidence of effective organizational, leadership, judgment, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Good working knowledge of Professional and Clinical Ethics.
- Ability to work effectively within an inter-professional team
- Multicultural and multi-faith sensitivity and awareness of various faith practices and rituals.
- Ability to plan and engage patients in regular spiritual services.
- Interest in providing education of Psycho-Spiritual Care.
- Consistent and regular attendance required
- Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset.
