Position
Champlain College Saint-Lambert is seeking the services of a LABORATORY TECHNICIAN (PHYSICS) to work on a regular full-time position.

Functions
Reporting to the Coordinator, Financial Services, the incumbent assists the teaching personnel in the preparation, presentation, supervision and evaluation of student laboratory work.

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**:
1. Ensure that laboratory equipment is properly maintained, in good order, safely stored and available for use by faculty and students
2. Prepare and remove, in a timely manner, lab set-ups for experiments and demonstrations in consultation with faculty members and following established protocols for the experiments
3. Test equipment and set-ups, ensuring that objectives of laboratory activities can be met
4. Repair or arrange for repair/replacement of non-functional or malfunctioning equipment
5. Assist faculty and students with the execution of experiments and demonstrations
6. Create/maintain an accurate inventory of supplies, arranging for replacement of missing and non-functional items
7. Ensure that the physics laboratories, storage facilities and other related areas are maintained and secured in an appropriate manner
8. Assist faculty in the selection of new/replacement equipment and process orders and record receipt of same
9. Maintain tracking and ensure appropriateness of any removal/return of equipment, providing necessary information for deletion from inventory when appropriate
10. Work with faculty and other staff to ensure that safety regulations and protocols are followed in the laboratories, reporting any concerns to those responsible for health and safety
11. In consultation with faculty, maintain documentation related to all laboratory experiments and demonstrations
12. Perform other related duties as requested by the department or the supervisor
13. Assist staff and faculty in other science department activities when requested and when time permits

**Requirements**:
Education
Must possess a diploma of college studies (DEC) in an appropriate specialty or a diploma or an attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent by the competent authority.

Competencies
Must be able to communicate fluently, orally and in writing, in English and in French
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Expertise in the repair of laboratory equipment, including electronic equipment.

**Work Schedule**: Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (35 hours per week)

**Salary Scale**: 24.21$ - 32.32$

**Anticipated Start Date**: 2024-07-15
