**Job Summary**

The Emergency Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the Emergency Management Program and for the development of programming that improves community safety and security while addressing the four areas of emergency management. This individual will also provide high-level project coordination and development of culturally safe and sustainable disaster response/recovery resources. Working within a matrix environment requires strong and effective working relationships with colleagues, superiors, communities and health service partners and other organizations. The Emergency Program Coordinator serves as the liaison between Chief and Council, Administrator, and the Emergency Management Committee/Team.

The Emergency Program Coordinator will embody the following skill sets:

- Ability to take initiative, problem solve and make decisions within job scope.
- Understanding development and implementation of strategic plans for emergency response
- Experience negotiating and navigating jurisdictional relationships and complexities for leadership.
- Reporting structures and understanding budgets
- Understanding of community complex planning implementation and evaluation needs that support long-term community planning.
- Ability to write detailed, structured reports.
- Ability to identify needs and pathways of communications.
- Knowledge of EAF (Environmental Assessment Forms) and processes with EMBC

**JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Review and update 2017 Emergency Response Plan
- Participate in FNESS EM training courses and EPC information sessions
- Coordinate access to EOC/EM training courses offered through EMCR/JIBC
- Support Firesmart awareness and promotion in the community
- Review and update Splatsin’s 911 civic addressing system
- Attend Secwepmec Health Caucus Emergency Planning meetings.
- Attend NORD and CORD emergency planning and training sessions.
- Prepare monthly reports for the Band Administrator summarizing emergency training/planning and status of emergency preparedness.
- Build Splatsin’s EM program with coordination of Emergency Operation training for community and key staff members
- Update Splatsin’s HRVA for all reserves
- Collaborate with other Departments for funding and capacity building opportunities in emergency preparedness
- Assist Splatsin with climate change readiness and adaptation planning.
- Draft a 5-year Emergency Preparedness Plan

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Education and Experience**
- Emergency Program related certificate, diploma, or degree
- Proven emergency preparedness skills (prevention, mitigation, preparedness, and response)
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an office environment or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Experience managing diverse perspectives and objectives to effectively develop mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Valid BC Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle
