**A bit about us**

AWES is a growing environmental non-profit organization that provides direct assistance to landowners, municipalities, and organizations with funding or expertise on planting project design and implementation, tree health assessment, municipal policy guidance, restoration, bioengineering planning, source plant material, and the planting and maintenance of forested areas. Our planting projects extend across Alberta, and we promote community capacity building through training and workshops. AWES is helping communities and landowners make the most of their forests, large and small.

**Responsibilities**
- Propagation, planting, and seed gathering
- Vegetation management of nursery spaces
- Greenhouse and nursery watering (including weekends)
- Administering fertilizer and integrated pest management program
- Receiving shipments, organizing seedling inventory, and transportation of seedlings and propagation material
- Assisting in planning and installing new trials and propagation beds
- Workshops & Field Days: working with AWES staff and contractors to deliver guided walks, field planting days, demonstrations, and other educational content found on site, in the field, or forest
- Support with the development and dissemination of extension materials
- Present on progress of assigned projects with the intention of sharing success and seeking guidance from coworkers to develop organizational and individual capacity
- Miscellaneous tasks
- can be asked to support operationally or administratively as required (i.e., writing standard operating procedures, equipment inventory, truck maintenance, etc.)

**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary education in a related field of study or equivalent experience
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision, or in a team environment, as needed

**Skills**
- Effective writing, record keeping, administration, and communication skills are highly valued
- Experience with technical writing and presentation delivery
- Must be physically capable of carrying 40 lbs and able to traverse uneven terrain in inclement weather on an occasional basis
- Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- GIS mapping (via Google Earth or Avenza) an asset
- Valid drivers license required

Possibility for periodic shifts for April 2025.

This position has no expectation for overnight travel. Primary responsibilities will be activities based at Crop Diversification Center North, Edmonton.
