Instructor - Early Childhood Education Assistant Certificate

**Overview**

Instructors in the ECEA Certificate program at Canadian Khalsa College:

- teach the number of hours required for each course.
- work in full cooperation with the Senior Educational Administrator.
- report to the Senior Educational Administrator (SEA).

**Courses**
- Practices of Guiding and Caring for the Child
- Practicum: Observation in Early Childhood Education

**Qualifications**

Instructors are required to have the following minimum qualifications:

- Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education from a recognized College or University.
- Two or more years of experience working as a fully certified Early Childhood Educator.
- Adult teaching experience or completed credential in adult education.
- Minimum two years post-secondary teaching experience in the field of instruction. Online experience is an asset.

**Expectations**

Instructors are expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching and dedication to the Canadian Khalsa College mission and carry out all specific duties and responsibilities in a highly professional manner. Specifically, they must demonstrate:

- high intellectual ability and organizational skills.
- commitment to the advancement of student learning and to the success of all students through exemplary instruction and facilitation of an active, learning-centered classroom environment.
- ability to develop and employ innovative strategies meant to engage, motivate, and ensure students’ success in ways appropriate and effective in classes of students with multiple backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives, and with varieties of academic preparation and learning styles.
- ability to prepare/modify college course outlines.
- ability to evaluate student performance by preparing and grading class assignments, quizzes and examinations utilizing explicit criteria directly relevant to the course content and learning objectives listed in course outlines approved in advance by the SEA.
- full participation in professional development activities carried out in administration-faculty meetings, presentations, and workshops that are organized and scheduled by Canadian Khalsa College.
- willingness to strive to improve quality of instruction through administration performance review and self-evaluation.
- ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with administration, faculty, and staff on college matters.
- compliance with office procedures and requirements (i.e. professional standards in regard to meeting deadlines set by Canadian Khalsa College staff for submission of course outlines, class attendance sheets, exams, student grades, etc.).
- compliance with standards of professional conduct and ethics (i.e. classroom etiquette for in-person and online instruction, college instructor standards of courtesy, respect, and approachability in regard to all Canadian Khalsa College students, punctuality).

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 7 weeks
Part-time hours: 10 per week

**Salary**: $25.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed

**Experience**:

- Teaching: 2 years (required)
