**Job Description - Meat Cutter**

You will be working primarily in the cutting room with secondary responsibilities as it relates to processed meat production. These include (not limited to):

- Working in the cutting room and cutting various meat varieties to specifications required by the production demand
- Preparing large quantities of meat (pork, beef, chicken, and turkey) for the days production schedule
- Other work while not cutting will include mixing, tumbling, and pumping of prepped meat
- Logging meat and plant inventory and inventory movements in the ERP system and required paperwork
- Managing received inventory and their appropriate storage methods
- Work within HACCP and GMP guidelines and ensure area employees are also working within guidelines
- Paperwork required by the food safety program/ quality/ production
- Work as a team to achieve production goals

**Key skills**:

- Exceptional work ethic
- Exceptional knowledge of beef, pork, and poultry, their respective cuts etc.. This will also include exceptional knife safety and sharpening skills.
- Correct and safe meat cutting techniques - this includes hand positioning on a knife
- Select correct knife for the protein being cut
- Basic functional knife sharpening technique
- Make the correct efficient cut on the protein minimizing waste
- Able to operate electric band saw and hand saws
- Initiative and the ability to take ownership of work and work area
- Excellent organization skills with daily work and required paperwork
- Willingness to work in a team or independently in situations where independent work is required
- Must be able to identify continuous improvement opportunities

**Requirements**:

- 2 to 3 years of meat cutting experience in a meat processing facility
- Ability to lift/handle up to 23kg/50lbs.
- Able to communicate in English both written and verbal
- Grade 12 or OSSD

Compensation
- $22/Hr
- Benefits after 3 month probation period
