You’ll have the ability to orchestrate and enhance our chaplaincy services, including the coordination of spiritual care volunteers, while also providing proficiency as a comforting "presence" in times of need. A profound understanding of geriatrics, the aging process, and grief is coupled with your commitment to integrating spiritual well-being into the holistic model of senior wellness. Your ability to communicate faith matters transparently from a Biblical standpoint while also respecting diverse beliefs forms a crucial part of your skillset. Your educational foundation includes a graduate degree in theology aligned with our Baptist Housing Statement of Faith, including clinical pastoral education or professional chaplaincy training. Your unique blend of qualities includes a profound sense of humour, innate adaptability, and an unceasing commitment to lifelong learning. As our chaplain, you will not only offer spiritual sustenance but also foster an environment of warmth and inclusivity that defines who you are.

**About The Role**:
Your role will be multifaceted, spanning various aspects of spiritual care for residents, families, and our team. Collaborating with the volunteer coordinator, you’ll lead the recruitment, training, and supervision of spiritual care volunteers, fostering a supportive environment. You’ll facilitate the ministry of fellow clergy and support residents in maintaining their faith community. By planning and leading Christian worship, teachings, and fellowship sessions, you will create meaningful spaces for connection, addressing social, emotional, and spiritual needs while respecting diverse backgrounds. Additionally, you will offer guidance during ethical concerns and end-of-life situations, provide hospital visitation, and oversee funeral and memorial service arrangements, supporting individuals navigating grief and spiritual matters. For our team, you’ll nurture an inclusive atmosphere that honours each team member's personal faith and beliefs. You will promote spiritual care and understanding through education, offering emotional and social support during challenges. Moreover, you’ll seek to involve and coordinate spiritual care volunteers, maintain knowledge of relevant resources, and network with other chaplains and associations for comprehensive care. You’ll submit reports, document care services, collaborate on strategy and budgets, and ensure proper recording of volunteer hours. You will contribute to creating a secure environment, advocating for safe practices, and identifying workplace hazards. You’ll model our Baptist Housing values in all your interactions with residents, our team, and families.

**Your Work Location**:
You will serve both our Shannon Oaks all-inclusive independent living community and Clarendon Court, which is our assisted living community. Both are located in beautiful South Vancouver.
