The Desktop Administration team with Workplace Operations is responsible for end user client devices, including laptops, desktops, virtual desktops, and handheld or mobile devices. The team manages and supports the centralized management systems (both on-premise and cloud based) for these devices, supporting various teams within the Open City and Technology Branch, using these systems for software deployment and imaging of new, refreshed, and repaired devices. The team is moving towards modem device management to better suit our modern workforce of in office, hybrid work from home, and roaming users, and looking for someone to help us achieve this.

- Perform complex end-to-end solution delivery and maintenance for small systems design or enhancements to large systems
- Execute projects and enhancements, providing conceptual and functional design and project planning definition
- Actively maintain expert knowledge in multiple areas of focus and provide advice in their specialist expert field when required
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of maintenance and installation work, including building and configuration of infrastructure components in virtual environments
- Configure tools to automate the provisioning, testing, and deployment of new and changed infrastructure
- Identify operational problems and contribute to their analysis and resolution
- Troubleshoot complex break-fix problems escalated from the less experienced colleagues; conduct hands-on testing and regression testing for solutions
- Creates test cases using in-depth technical analysis of both functional and non-functional specifications, as well as traceability records, test scripts, and test packs to test new and amended software or services
- Review test results and modify tests if necessary, reporting on progress, anomalies, risks and issues associated with the overall project
- Review system software updates and identify those that merit action; install and test
- Investigate and coordinate the resolution of potential and actual service problems
- Research and making recommendations current available technologies to meet customer needs
- Provide advice and guidance to support adoption of methods and tools and adherence to policies and standards
- Verify and approve changes ensuring protection of assets and components from unauthorized change, diversion and inappropriate use

**Qualifications**:

- The employee in this position must be capable of operating independently across all layers of a technology stack under limited supervision
- Completion of Grade 12 or GED
- One of the following combinations of education and experience:

- A university degree in a related discipline and 4 years relevant experience
- Post secondary diploma in a related discipline and 5 years relevant experience
- 1-year related certificate and 7 years relevant experience
- ITIL Foundations Training is an asset
- Deep knowledge and experience with one or more End User Computing management technologies (Microsoft Endpoint, Configuration Manager, Vmware Workspace One, PDQ Inventory/Deploy, JAMF, InTune)
- Deep knowledge of the common operating systems (Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, Android, iOS), and the enterprise level management of these operating systems
- Proficiency with Google G Suite productivity tools
- Knowledge and experience with the following:

- ITIL processes
- Scripting (Powershell) and automation tools
- Training in one or more End User Computing Management technologies (Microsoft Endpoint, Configuration Manager, Vmware Workspace One, PDQ Inventory/Deploy, JAMF, InTune)
- Group policy management
- Advanced Windows Support and Configuration
- Enterprise level deployment of software and software update management
- Enterprise level device imaging
- VMWare platform, and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VMware Horizon, Hyper-V)
- Security related items
- Absolute Computrace
- Endpoint Management (Bitdefneder, FireEye, Microsoft Defender, Trend OfficeScan)
- Disk Encryption (Bitlocker, FileVault2)
- Intel AMT, AMD DASH
- Knowledge of NetIQ Dra
- Remedy for incident management, work order creation and resolution, change requests, and problem investigation
- The ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call support
- The ability to work on-site in City offices, as required and scheduled
