Candu Energy Inc. is hiring a Functional Manager of Drafting for a full-time regular position. Reporting to the Functional Director, the Functional Manager maintains a team of technical staff with related skills for assignment to projects.

**How will you contribute to the team?**
- Resourcing:

- Ensure qualified and appropriate staff are supplied to projects based on project requests.
- Maintain a capability profile of the team, including individual experience and skills,
- Identify gaps in the size or technical capabilities of the team relative to forecast requirements, and develop and execute a plan to close those gaps through a combination of hiring, releasing and developing staff.
- Hiring and releasing staff, secondees and contractors, as required.
- Expedite negotiations between Technical Managers to optimize the allocation of staff.
- Training and Mentorship:

- Develop, maintain and execute training, development, qualification, knowledge transfer and succession plans for the team.
- As necessary, organize, develop and/or deliver training courses.
- Mentor and/or organize mentoring of staff to maintain and improve staff performance and department technical capabilities.
- Ensure all training and qualification records are up-to-date, and required training and qualifications are completed/updated on time.
- Department Objectives and KPI:

- Help staff set SMART objectives aligned with business demands.
- Track, analyze and develop/execute plans to improve department targeted Key Performance Indicators and objectives.
- Staff Performance and Performance Reviews:

- Accountable for functional performance review processes
- Provide clear expectations and performance measures, meaningful feedback, recognize and reward achievements
- In cooperation with Technical Managers, develop and implement successful corrective measures to improve the performance of individuals
- Responsible for human resource issues and effectively manage and resolve any such issues, working as appropriate with Technical Managers.
- Process / QA:

- Review operating procedures, codes of conduct, and other operating instructions
- Perform the Code Manager duties for codes assigned under the SQA program.
- Communication:

- Ensure frequent and appropriate communication with the team, consolidating feedback on generic issues for escalating to the Functional Director as appropriate

**What will you contribute?**
- Required qualifications:

- Degree from a postsecondary engineering technology or applied science program.
- 8 years of progressive experience in a discipline relevant to the skill areas being managed, including experience leading teams.
- Excellent organizational capabilities
- Strong leadership and coaching skills in the development of team members and support staff;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Additional, preferred qualifications:

- Certified Engineering Technician or Professional Engineer in a Province of Canada, or eligible to obtain such registration within 6 months of hiring.
- Experience using and managing various CADD packages including but not limited to: SmartPlant, SmartSketch, Solid Edge, AutoDesk products, Bentley products and SolidWorks
- 8 years of nuclear technology experience including experience leading technical teams.
- Three or more years of experience leading technical teams
- Experience working in a nuclear facility licensed in Canada.
- Willing to travel to and potentially work at Project sites to meet corporate needs.
