**Maintenance Technician**
Kings Wood Products is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our growing team
**POSITION OVERVIEW**
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for inspecting equipment, scheduling repairs, performing general grounds maintenance, and performing quality checks on equipment and systems to ensure they are up to standard.
**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Set up equipment according to production needs, including change overs.
- Install new equipment and ensure compliance with all safety measures.
- Repair mechanical systems to ensure they are consistent with health and safety standards.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance of equipment and shut down of equipment when required.
- Perform a variety of semi-skilled mechanical, electrical and miscellaneous maintenance tasks including instrument calibration, assembly of components, electrical measurements, electrical troubleshooting, electrical wiring, soldering, welding, etc.
- Inspect and troubleshoot production equipment and report any issues to supervisor.
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance, repair and installation of machinery and equipment (pumps, compressors, motors, valves, etc.)
- Perform machine operations (related to saws and wood manufacturing)
- Perform manual repairs as necessary and schedule third party repairs when required.
- Respond to production calls promptly to minimize production downtime.
- Perform general maintenance and upkeep of facility to ensure a safe and clean environment.
- Provide improvement suggestions to supervisor and implement changes as required.
- Ensure compliance to all health and safety procedures and report areas of concern to supervisor in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with workers and other professionals.
- Participate in training initiatives as required.
- Conduct general upkeep procedures and other tasks as assigned.
**KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED**
- Proven experience as maintenance technician.
- Experience using hand and electrical tools.
- Basic understanding of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and other systems.
- Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods.
- Understanding and experience with Lock out/Tag out and machine guarding procedures.
- Ability to read technical manuals and drawings.
- Good problem-solving skills and high attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong team player with ability to self-manage and prioritize.
- Able to work with mínimal supervision.
- Ability to work under pressure, multi-task, and meet deadlines and manage priorities.
- Teamwork and communication skills.
- Strong commitment to Health & Safety.
- Ability to comfortably and safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Electrician / Millwright / Maintenance certification preferred.
- Possesses a valid G driver’s license with clean drivers abstract.
**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**
- Work performed can be both physically demanding repetitive in nature.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Bend, stoop, and reach overhead.
- Work in various weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures.
- Work in environments with varying air quality conditions, which may include exposure to dust, fumes, and other airborne contaminants.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
**THE COMPANY**
Kings Wood Products was incorporated in 1970. We manufacture various types of wood products used mainly by the manufacturing industry. Some of our products include pallets, boxes, reels, export packaging, and custom wood packaging.
We have built our business with a reputation of outstanding service at a fair price. We operate our own trucks and trailers to ensure that our 100% on-time delivery goal is achieved. Typically, our customers are within a 75-mile radius of our manufacturing facility in Paris, Ontario, but we can service customers considerably further away.
We have been in our present location since 1982. The original building of 13,000 square feet has more than tripled to over 40,000 square feet at the present time. We have five loading docks for van loading as well as paved area for flat deck loading.
We are situated on eight acres of fenced yard for storage purposes, with two acres set aside for storage of finished product to ensure the quickest possible response for rush orders. Our factory is equipped with up-to-date machinery that is maintained by our own maintenance staff.
We are capable of producing a wide range of specialty parts in our custom shop and use our own jigs and fixtures to maintain a quality product.
