**SUMMARY OF DUTIES**:
**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Analyzes and ensures the NFB’s compliance with various government policies and initiatives that have an impact on NFB operations, such as the Official Languages Act, the Canadian Multiculturalism Act, the Policy on Results, etc.
- Keeps abreast of government directions, policies and priorities (Speech from the Throne, budget, priorities and initiatives of federal departments, etc.) that may have an impact on the NFB’s strategic activities.
- Supports the implementation of the NFB’s corporate performance-measurement framework (hereafter “framework”) with managers and senior management, communicates the recommendations for performance indicators and methodology prepared by the Strategic Planning and Governmental Relations team, and ensures the quality of the data.
- Participates in framework-review initiatives, based on government directives or organizational directions.

**Prepares and writes documents (reports, notes, presentations, submissions, etc.) to meet the requirements of various federal government bodies**:

- Prepares and writes reports to Parliament and the public such as the Departmental Plan and the Departmental Results Reports (Part III), the Annual Report, and select compliance reports on the implementation of statutory and regulatory measures.
- Prepares and writes briefing notes on topics of interest to the NFB and the government, and presentations as requested.
- Where appropriate, supports the NFB planning process, participates in aligning it with government directions, develops targeted action plans, and monitors progress of activities.
- Participates in risk analysis for projects that may impact government relations and in making recommendations to senior management and the Communications team.
- Supports senior management in the implementation of special projects.

**Builds and maintains constructive business relationships with key collaborators (such as Canadian Heritage [PCH] and Treasury Board Secretariat [TBS] analysts, the film industry, interest groups, communities, etc.) that contribute to the advancement of the organization’s interests**:

- Coordinates activities related to requests or consultations from the various policy offices, e.g., Portfolio Affairs (PCH), Film and Video Policy’s office (PCH), Cultural and Social Affairs (PCH and TBS), Official Languages (PCH and TBS).
- Represents the NFB’s interests and highlights the NFB’s specific needs as a government agency.
- Participates in meetings and working groups.
- Supports the organization of annual bilateral meetings with representatives of official-language minority communities.

**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
- Bachelor’s degree in a discipline such as Administration, Political Science, Sociology or Communications;
- Five (5) years of relevant experience in a similar role;
- Experience working with government policy or government departmental planning;
- Familiarity with performance indicators in cultural settings and related public policy;
- Experience consulting with various levels of government or external stakeholders (e.g., other federal departments, provincial and territorial governments, academic institutions, international stakeholders or non-governmental organizations);
- Good knowledge of computer tools (Microsoft Office);
- Fluency in both official languages, oral and written.
