Reports To: Provincial Xcel Team Head Coach

Ontario Soccer develops and delivers exceptional and sustainable programs and services throughout Ontario with the mission of providing leadership and support for the advancement of soccer in collaboration and cooperation with our membership, partners and other stakeholders.

An overall goal of Ontario Soccer is to assist with the development of soccer as a healthy lifestyle choice, provide a talented pathway for players to excel and encourage community involvement at all levels.

Position Summary:
In alignment with Canada Soccer’s National & Regional Excel Program, Ontario Soccer is making changes to the programming offered to Ontario’s most talented players. These positions will provide coaching leadership to Ontario’s top youth male and female players within Ontario Soccer’s Provincial Xcel
Program.

Ontario Soccer’s Provincial Xcel Program detects young talent throughout the Province with the aid of
Ontario Soccer Technical Staff, OPDL Technical Staff, District & Club Technical Leads, and Club Coaches to provide high level training and competition in preparation for Regional and National Excel Programs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

- To serve as a Provincial Xcel Team Assistant Coach incorporating the Ontario Soccer's player priority principles, curriculum and adhere to the talented player development plan: March - May

2023.
- Attend all Ontario Soccer's Provincial Xcel Staff meetings (Orientation, Administrative and

Technical)
- Assist the Head Coach in the planning, management and delivery of the campaign plan.
- Act and deliver specific coaching responsibilities as outlined by the Provincial Head Coach.
- Plan and conduct team training sessions, individual player sessions, recovery sessions, small team training sessions as required.
- In conjunction with the Provincial Head Coach, plan or conduct individual and team debriefing sessions, post training and game (verbal and visual).
- In consultation with the Provincial Head Coach organize or conduct pre-game, half-time and substitute warm-ups, and manage in-game substitutions.
- Manage game video, motivational film, match statistics and post-game video analysis if required by Provincial Head Coach.
- In competition, communicate daily itinerary to players and scout opposition when required.
- Support Athletic Therapist in any post-game player recovery protocols.
- Support Team Manager with organization, kit and laundry related activities as required.
- Ensure training equipment is well maintained and ready for practice and matches.
- In conjunction with the Team Manager, plan and organize player responsibilities with returning and picking up training kit and game uniforms.
- Complete Ontario Soccer Player Development Program surveys.
- Adhere to the Provincial Xcel Program’s Coaching Staff Code of Conduct

Qualifications and Required Skill Sets:

- A minimum Ontario Soccer National 'C' or equivalent
- Canada Soccer National Youth License Preferred
- Coaching experience at the appropriate youth age and gender
- Strong teaching, leadership, organization and communication skills
- Understanding of team dynamics and being a team player
- Well-developed time and people management skills
- Personally believes and commits to continual professional development.

Provincial Term:
March - April 2023 May 13-14, 2023 April 23 - 25, April 28 -30 or May 19-21, 2023
1 weekend minimum 1 weekend Domestic competition with 24 hr responsibility
12-14 hrs per weekend 12-14 hours per weekend
