INTERMEDIATE PLANNER

The Upper Grand District School Board(UGDSB) employs approximately 4,000 dedicated staff who serve more than 35,000 students attending a variety of programs across 65 elementary and 11 secondary schools as well as continuing education and adult learning centres in the counties of Dufferin, Wellington and the City of Guelph. The Upper Grand District School Board invites qualified applicants for this permanent **full-time, 1.0 FTE **position. Duties will commence as soon as possible.

**LOCATION**:Guelph Board Office, Planning Department (500 Victoria Rd. N, Guelph, ON)

**SALARY RANGE**:$27.00 to $33.75 per hour

**FTE/HOURS**:1.0 FTE (35 hours per week)

**BOARD INFORMATION**:OCT Union, 12-month position

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Support the Manager of Planning and Senior Planner and other senior staff with boundary, accommodation, and program reviews
- Prepare and deliver public presentations to school communities, engaging in complex conversations, and responding to inquiries from parents/guardians
- Oversee the JK FI registration and random selection process including: Advise and provide guidance to other departments and elementary schools related to the JK FI registration and placement process; Supporting school Principals and Office Coordinators with communication to parents/guardians and responding to general inquiries
- Prepare reports and presentations to the board on enrolment, residential development, etc.
- Manage, update and analyze data which supports preparation of short and long-term enrolment projections, and projection reporting to the Ministry of Education
- Work with SchoolSite software to develop enrolment projections
- Develop and maintain department databases
- Represent the Planning Department and Board on various internal and municipal committees and in public meetings
- Support the annual review of the Board’s Long Term Accommodation Plan
- Other duties as required

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Ability to engage professionally and with discretion in complex conversations with parents, municipalities, and the Board’s Senior Management team
- Undergraduate Degree or College Diploma in Urban Planning, Geography or equivalent
- Minimum three (3) related school board planning experiences
- Previous municipal planning experience is an asset
- Excellent written and organizational skills
- Excellent oral communication skills, ability to handle difficult conversations and engage with parents/guardians, and present complex information before trustees and school communities
- Demonstrated research and data management skills
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Proficiency using school enrolment softwares
- Working knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver’s license and use of a private vehicle as required
- Membership or eligibility for membership in Ontario Professional Planners Institute preferred
