**Implementation Coordinator, Indigenous Engagement**:
**PRIMARY PURPOSE**
The Implementation Coordinator, Office of the Vice Provost, Indigenous Engagement (OVPIE) works to coordinate and support the implementation of various policies, initiatives, priorities, activities and other events (referred to generally as “initiatives”) related to the Office of Vice-Provost, Indigenous Engagement. The coordinator will work effectively to track progress and provide impact assessment of designated initiatives. The coordinator will also have administrative responsibilities including supporting the department through the organization of cultural, artistic and scholarly presentations, performances, and events and managing the gathering space on the Muskeg Lake Cree Nation’s urban reserve.
**NATURE OF WORK**
Reporting to the Vice Provost, Indigenous Engagement, this position plays an important role in the implementation, execution and impact assessment of unique initiatives and coordination of operational and administrative support for OVPIE.
Important aspects of this work are confidentiality, creating a safe space for students, faculty and staff, developing positive relationships, along with the ability to coordinate, plan, set and meet project targets. To be successful in this role, the coordinator requires a high level of collaboration, relationship-building, and engagement with a variety of stakeholders to effectively support ohpahotân | oohpaahotaan, USask’s Indigenous strategy and the work of the OVPIE. The coordinator will also need to have strong organizational skills, exercise discretionary decision-making and establish effective working relations with internal and external partners and stakeholders.
Knowledge and experience with Indigenous cultures, knowledges, and traditions are essential to success in this role.
**ACCOUNTABILITIES**
**General**:
- As a member of the OVPIE, participate in regular meetings, planning and strategy sessions. Proactively carry out activities that contribute to achieving the goals, objectives and strategies of the office.
- Contribute to a team culture that encourages both individual and team accomplishments and successes.
- Function in a collaborative and supportive capacity with other OVPIE team members, ensuring sound advice and knowledge of the university’s policies, guidelines and formal and informal processes is provided where appropriate.
- Be flexible in supporting work across the OVPIE.
**Community**:
- Build connections with Indigenous communities, community-based organizations and businesses that are beneficial to the success of the ohpahotân | oohpaahotaan, the Indigenous strategy; and to take the lead in organizing their participation with OVPIE and the Muskeg Lake gathering space programing, services, and events.
- Represent the OVPIE at community events when required;
- Coordination and support of Elders, Knowledge and Story Keepers, and community experts within OVPIE programs, services and events.
**Administrative support**:
- Lead or support in the development of implementation plans for initiatives from the OVPIE;
- Track and update the OVPIE team and/or other stakeholders on progress of policies, initiatives, events, etc.;
- Identify when issues arise, changes are required and provide recommendations or take action to help ensure initiatives are delivered as intended;
- Field calls and respond to queries related to OVPIE initiatives;
- Assist with the communications, triage requests and receive all additional forms of incoming inquiries;
- Manage and carry-out accounting and financial transactions including honoraria, reconcile the accounting and financial activities for all incurred office funds;
- Ensure financial documentation and records are properly filed and maintained;
- Responsible for maintenance of the Muskeg Lake gathering space including keeping the space tidy, logistics around shipping/receiving of items, technology support, and calendar and scheduling.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education**: A Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
**Experience**:
- Knowledge and experience with Indigenous cultures, ways, traditions - including ceremony and protocols is essential;
- Knowledge of USask, the province, and their relationship to Indigenous peoples;
- Experience in the planning, development and implementation of programs and policies;
- Experience in dealing with diverse groups of organizations and peoples particularly students and Indigenous communities and partners.
