Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring a Director, External Relations on a permanent basis on our Co-op & External Relations team.

**What you’ll do**:

- Define priorities for external relations that align with the strategy set by FCL’s senior leadership team (SLT) and board of directors.
- Develop relationships with ministerial leaders (municipal, provincial, federal) and oversee the Government Relations teams’ monitoring of government actions. This will include recommending policy positions and representing the organization’s interests.
- Liaise with government officials and elected representatives to gain support for CRS policy and regulatory positions and funding opportunities.
- Oversee the development and execution of an indigenous relations strategy focused on fostering relationships with Indigenous community and business leaders, identifying mutually beneficial business opportunities.
- Offer insight on building relationships with trade associations to ensure strategic, effective deployment of FCL human and financial capital in support of those associations.

**Who you’ll work with**:
You will provide guidance to various business units and will have the leaders of the Government Relations and Indigenous Relations teams reporting directly to you. You will report to the Vice President (VP), Co-op & External Relations and will promote a culture of employee engagement and continuous improvement. You will also collaborate with local Co-op leadership, FCL SLT, subsidiary leadership, and strategic priority leaders to oversee the execution of external relations strategies.

**Who you are**:
You are looking for a career in Government Relations or Risk Management and:

- Have 10+ years of relevant progressively responsible experience in business with positions highlighting competence in communication, strategy, and analytical thinking.
- Have experience with senior policy development in government.
- Have a bachelor’s degree in communications, business, journalism, or public relations.
