**Position Overview**:
Join the City of Regina as the Director of Destination Stewardship and contribute to the sustainable development and preservation of our destination. Reporting to the Deputy City Manager, Communications, Service Regina & Tourism, this leadership role focuses on fostering responsible tourism, community engagement, and the long-term well-being of our destination. As a vital member of our corporate-wide initiatives, you will actively participate in policy development, planning, and special projects.

Transforming ideas into tangible outcomes, the Director of Destination Stewardship holds the duty of shaping and bringing to fruition the vision for the destination's atmosphere. In assuming a key role, the Director will contribute significantly to positioning Regina as a premier tourist destination and an exceptional place to live and explore.

The strategy implementation will require dedicated investments in time, budget and building the appropriate team.

**Key Responsibilities**:
Lead the development and implementation of destination stewardship strategies, aligning with sustainable tourism practices.
Collaborate with local communities, businesses, and government agencies to ensure responsible tourism practices.
Oversee research initiatives to assess the impact of tourism on the destination's environment and culture.
Implement community engagement programs to involve residents in the destination's growth and development.
Work closely with environmental and cultural organizations to promote conservation efforts.
Develop and manage initiatives that enhance the overall quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
Serve as a liaison between the destination and various stakeholders, including government bodies and non-profit organizations.
Actively participate in corporate-wide policy development, planning, and special projects.
Collaborate to shape an industry engagement strategy, leveraging Regina's assets and stakeholders.

Key Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Tourism Management, or related fields.
10+ years of senior leadership experience in destination stewardship or a similar role.
Strong commitment to sustainable and responsible tourism practices.
Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
Knowledge of environmental and cultural conservation principles.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including community engagement strategies.
Understanding of the social, economic, and cultural dynamics of destinations.
Demonstrated financial and administrative management expertise, including accounting principles, operational budgets, contracts, and budget management.
Proficiency in stakeholder relationship management, including media relations, public engagement, and government relations.
Professional marketing knowledge/experience, including social media marketing.
Familiarity with destination marketing organizations and the tourism industry (an asset).
Experience with other business associations, economic development offices, or non-profit associations (an asset).
