**Mental Health and Addictions Supervisor**

**What you’ll do**
- Coordinate daily mental health and addictions-related patient care activities and provide leadership for the mental health and addictions team in the planning and implementation of consistent, evidence-based service-wide approach for the delivery of service. Promote quality of care by reviewing mental health screen for completeness and referral for mental health and addictions assessment from Mental Health Intake Screeners, other health professional, Correctional Officer, and other source and triaging same; coordinate and schedule patient’s mental health appointment with psychologist and psychiatrist; and consult and collaborate with interprofessional team member to help establish appropriate goal for care and individualized care plan considering the patient’s physiological, psychological, spiritual, and sociocultural need.
- Assess the patient’s overall mental health and addiction service need; conduct risk assessment and monitor the progress of all patient identified as at risk for suicidal ideation or self-harm, depression and serious mental disorder; formulate initial diagnostic impression and determine priority of care requirement; refer patient to the psychologist, general practitioner, or other care provider as required.
- Visit patient in segregation/observation for review, referral, and follow-up care as required; document as appropriate in the electronic patient care information system, and communicate the outcome of review to the Warden or designate as appropriate.
- Engage other in treatment planning, evaluation, and the review of patient progress and need. Provide formal and informal consultation as needed to health care team member, other health care provider, and student. Provide guidance/knowledge in the management of mental health and addictions care, including co-occurring psychiatric and substance use/misuse disorder. Promote interprofessional collaboration to address treatment concern, continuity of care, crisis management protocol, and community resource coordination. Assist with therapeutic intervention and problem solving, provide clinical guidance and information on complex case, discuss patient care issue, and develop linkage/partnership to meet patient need.

**What you bring**

**Qualifications**
- Master’s Degree in an Allied Health Discipline from a recognized Program and current practicing registration with the applicable professional College.
- Three (3) years' recent experience in a mental health and addictions setting, including working with mentally disordered offenders, forensic psychiatric or tertiary mental health/concurrently disordered populations, and two (2) years related administrative/supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Valid BC Driver's License and access to personal vehicle for local area travel may be required.

**Skills and Knowledge**
- Comprehensive knowledge of mental illness and treatment, substance use and addictions treatment, and of the principles of recovery.
- Broad knowledge of psychotherapeutic and counselling skills, psychoeducation principles and methods and psychopharmacology (indications and side-effects).
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective leadership, supervision, work direction and consultation.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive mental health and addiction clinical and risk assessments, utilizing relevant tools and rating scales, and formulate a treatment plan, participate in discharge planning and provide crisis intervention.
- Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and other related reports.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
