**About Brunswick Street Mission Outreach**

We provide same-day, drop-in style services to folks who self-identify as needing support in navigating systems or accessing resources (some of which we provide). Our clients range from folks navigating systems for the first time to community members who are chronically unhoused. We care deeply about our community and for this reason, commitment to anti-oppressive practice and using a harm-reduction lens is required. We take our time with folks, hold firm boundaries, and try to create a feeling of safety and belonging.

**Position Summary**

We are seeking a part-time Outreach staff member to work on-site while our Outreach Coordinator expands services into our community. The Outreach staff member will work independently in our Outreach office with the support of the Brunswick Street Mission team. There will be times when the Outreach Staff member will be called on to support our team in other programming. There will also be times when the Outreach Coordinator remains on-site and teamwork is required.

**This position takes responsibility for**
- Maintain Outreach caseload in absence of Outreach Coordinator, document pertinent information through accurate note-taking
- Facilitate in-house Outreach programs in absence of Outreach Coordinator: ID SAFE, ID Drop-in, and Employment Support
- Provide support to community members during periods of dysregulation, while in crisis, and while under the influence of alcohol or substances
- Support de-escalation and provide supportive counselling
- Responsibly manage client expectations
- Support clients to achieve self-identified goals
- Share information on community resources with clients, eg: shower programs, warming centres, housing clinics
- Develop and nurture professional relationships with peer organizations
- Supports staff team with the preparation of monthly program reports using stats as needed

**Schedule**
- This position is required specifically on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9:30 am - 2:30 pm and other hours TBD.

**Qualifications**
- University Degree or Community College Diploma in the Social Services field OR combination of relevant education and experience
- Understanding of importance and practice in maintaining boundaries
- Experience in spontaneous risk-assessments, competency in triaging, and responding quickly to health or safety concerns.
- Knowledge of how trauma-informed practice is delivered or eagerness to learn
- Relevant experience working with individuals experiencing poverty, criminalization, racialization, food and housing insecurity, substance and alcohol use, mental health challenges, and a demonstrated understanding of the associated barriers and challenges of those who are precariously housed or unhoused.
- Must provide Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sectors check.
- **Must have the following or be willing to acquire training immediately**:First Aid and CPR with AED, Naloxone, Non-violent Crisis Intervention
