General Accountability
Key Accountabilities
Note: This section is not intended to be an exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities - other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
DEI Programming and Services- Supports the implementation and administration of programs, policies, procedures, and tools for DEI initiatives.- Responsible for monitoring the DEI inbox, handling day-to-day operational assignments and provides support to the business on DEI programming and services.- Partners with stakeholders in HR, along with external sources to gather input to continually improve programs and processes.- Assists with providing recommendations on relevant policies or programs for SGI to ensure a more diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace.- Develops and delivers information on topics related to DEI.- Maintains a library of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging materials.- Maintains DEI content on SGI’s website and social media pages.- Works with Talent Development to develop, deliver, coordinate, or procure training, learning opportunities and awareness programs which support DEI objectives.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy Support- Collects data and metrics on the progress and effectiveness of DEI programming to support the DEI department objectives.- Researches and stays abreast of emerging trends and DEI best practices. Gathers information to provide support to ensure SGI’s DEI programing is current.- Participates in cross-functional work teams, workshops, and meetings to support the development of innovative and practical business solutions.- Supports the partnership with the Talent Acquisition team to identify and implement opportunities to embed inclusive practices and eliminate systemic bias across talent acquisition programs, policies, and processes.- Collaborates with the DEI Specialist, Health Management and Corporate Safety to expand on psychological safety and wellness initiatives and programming.- Acts as a DEI ambassador to ensure the cultural adoption and sustainability of all DEI initiatives over the long term.- Represents SGI on external committees.
Employee Resource Group Programming Support- Supports the launch of Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), along with coordinating learning and development opportunities for the groups.- Collaborate with ERGs in the areas of communications, events, and integration of a wide range of DEI activities across SGI.- Supports in expanding the program based on best practices, research, and SGI’s direction.
Leadership- Actively contributes to and supports a culture of a high performing workforce.- Participates in divisional succession plans, ensuring ongoing professional and career development and supports development in others.- Supports a culture of leadership and accountability to effectively deliver on strategic and corporate strategies.- Is actively committed to leadership development across the company, supporting team and workforce readiness through mentoring, training, and developmental opportunities.
Corporate Management- Enables the success of programs and policies that are in alignment with corporate, strategic, and divisional strategies.- Manages risk in area of authority.- Ensures that the Health, Safety and Emergency Management Policy is applied in area of responsibility.
Education and Experience- Four-year degree from an accredited post-secondary education institution in a relevant field of study such as Business.- Five years’ experience in HR consultation and participating in HR projects with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.- A Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation would be considered an asset.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- Knowledge of diversity, equity and inclusion principles and practices.- Knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and functions and how they interconnect.- Skill in consulting, presenting, and facilitating.- Skill in collaboration and understanding resources across various cultural backgrounds and communities.- Ability to develop and maintain effective and influential relationships with colleagues, external organizations, and business partners.- Ability to analyze and compile data/metrics to support business recommendations.
