Culinary Expertise

We are seeking a skilled Culinary Specialist to join our team at Townplace Suites by Marriott Brantford and Conference Centre. As a key member of our food and beverage team, you will be responsible for coordinating special events, determining food portion sizes, and planning menus to ensure exceptional dining experiences for our guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate special events and functions, including weddings, conferences, and banquets
  • Determine food portion sizes and costs to ensure efficient food preparation and minimize waste
  • Plan menus and estimate food requirements to meet the needs of our guests
  • Requisition food and kitchen supplies to maintain high-quality standards
  • Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods to meet dietary requirements and preferences
  • Inspect kitchens and food service areas to ensure cleanliness and safety standards are met
  • Train staff in food preparation, cooking, and handling to maintain high-quality standards
  • Order supplies and equipment to maintain efficient kitchen operations
  • Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment to ensure accurate tracking and ordering
  • Clean kitchen and work areas to maintain a safe and healthy environment
  • Organize buffets and banquets to ensure timely and efficient service
  • Manage kitchen operations to ensure smooth and efficient food preparation and service
  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations and protocols to protect our guests and staff
Requirements
  • Safe Food Handling certificate
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to handle heavy loads and work in a physically demanding environment
  • Repetitive tasks and standing for extended periods
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain a high level of organization and reliability
  • Client focus, dependability, flexibility, initiative, judgement, and time management skills
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a similar role
  • Permanent position with 30 to 40 hours per week
  • English language proficiency
