**JOB SUMMARY**

This position is responsible for providing the day to day safety and security for all staff, volunteers, visitors and physical properties and assets of Siloam Mission. The manager will provide leadership and training to the staff. This position ensures staff are using accurate best practices when working within Siloam Mission.

**KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Oversee Security, Safety and Health programs of Siloam Mission and ensure the protection of employees, visitors, volunteers, physical property and assets;
- Act as Health & Safety Officer for Siloam and ensure compliance to regulations;
- Lead safety and emergency response action plans and procedures and manage safety and emergency response activities;
- Conduct risk and threat assessments and liaise with government agencies as it relates to workplace violence and security;
- Conduct security assessments of work sites and external sites as it relates to Siloam events, accident and crime scenes;
- Conduct investigations of theft and vandalism in collaboration with the Director of Human Resources;
- Develop and oversee implementation of new security technologies, methods, and policies to meet organizational requirements including security lock/fob system;
- Oversee the collection, presentation, and reporting of data related to all Siloam safety, security and emergency management activities for executive staff and others as necessary;
- Conduct internal presentations and training on safety, security and emergency management;
- Participate in the evaluation process for awarding contracts for security related services, and overseeing the contracts throughout their life cycle to ensure cost and quality targets are met;
- Assisting departments/workplace manager and Workplace Safety & Health committee in facilitating the resolution of concerns;
- Provides technical advice and guidance to management on workplace safety and health;
- Evaluates illness/injury statistics and trends and utilizes data to assist in implementing preventative measures to reduce the potential for future employee injury/illness;
- In collaboration with the Director of Human Resources develop and maintain Safety & Health policies and procedures;
- Organizes and updates a Safety & Health operations manual;
- Reviews all operational manuals and provides feedback to Manager/Director of program;
- Leads or assists in property management/space allocation, asset management & tracking;
- Informs supervisor of any unsafe acts, work conditions, incidents, near misses, injuries or illnesses immediately;
- Demonstrates an understanding of the role and responsibilities in fire prevention and disaster preparedness and participates in safety and health programs including the Siloam Mission Disaster and Evacuation plan;
- Responsible for Siloam Mission’s Fire safety and evacuation plans;
**EDUCATION**
- A post-secondary degree in a related discipline such as occupational health & safety, security management, emergency management; or equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered;
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) certification preferred

**KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE**
- A minimum of two (2) years of progressive experience in Occupational Health and Safety, security field, law enforcement, or an investigations environment;
- Previous experience in the development and implementation of Health and Safety programs in accordance with the Manitoba Workplace Safety & Health Act and Regulation;
- Strong working knowledge of Workplace Safety & Health Legislation, Workers Compensation polices and procedures, Human Rights legislation and PHIA;
- Previous experience in the preparation and delivery of Occupational Safety & Health educational materials;
**SKILLS & COMPENTENCIES**
- Ability to maintain collaborative working relationships with individuals, volunteers across the organization in a diplomatic and objective manner;
- Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately to diffuse emotional or heightened situations;
- Ability to gather and analyze information, anticipate and recognize problems and opportunities, create alternatives and solutions and make appropriate decisions and recommendations;
- Available 24/7 to provide immediate response to issues and incidents related to security or emergency management Comprehensive leadership skills and extensive operations management in non-profit setting;
- Strong investigation and report writing skills;
- Strong systems and technical skills;
- Valid Drivers License

**RELATIONSHIP**
- Internal staff, managers and executives and volunteers;
- Working closely with our Maintenance Team;
- External organizations and related government agencies, e.g. police, Safe Work Manitoba, etc.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 8:00 - 4:30pm;
- This position will be part of an On-call rotation;
- The incumbent functions autonomously on a day-to-day basis and manages assigned duties accordingly;
