**Primary Focus**:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced safety professional to join our team. As the Safety Program Manager, you will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the Risk Professionally Managed (RPM) Trucking Industry Safety Program. RPM activities that include providing leadership for the success and development of the program and team members, and implementing strategies to improve service levels, improve efficiencies throughout workplace health and safety in Manitoba’s trucking industry. This position is accountable to ensure all program initiatives, including existing and new health and safety training programs comply with all RPM policies, corporate identity, and all related legislation.

The focus will be to support Manitoba trucking industries in the implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement in safety management system practices. A key expectation of this position is to build and nurture relationships with the trucking industry. This position has direct reports, who will help achieve the mandate within the strategic plan.

This position reports to the Executive Director and accountable to the Operations Manager and participates as an active member of the MTA leadership team.

**Duties/Responsibilities**:

- Provide information and analysis, advise, and assist the RPM Trucking Industry Safety Council in achieving the vision, goals, objectives, and outcomes.
- Develop and manage key performance indicators for the RPM Safety program and ensure they are aligned with the expectations of primary stakeholders.
- Work with the Executive Director/Operations Manager to identify and address Workplace health and safety challenges and issues within transportation industry.
- Working with the Council chair, identify key issues for council deliberations and develop agendas and materials for council meetings.
- Provide information, training, materials, etc. as requested by the Council, ensure effective communication between the council and industry.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with industry stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, leaders, educational institutions, and community organizations to foster information sharing, collaboration, and goal attainment.
- Support in development of annual work plans, operating budgets, and funding reports.
- Oversee and support development of Health and Safety program development, including training, resources, advisory services, and certification.
- Ensure programs are within compliance to applicable laws and regulations.
- Provide guidance to personnel and directly deliver health and safety programs and services as needed.
- Support in the process of recruiting in the integral team and ensure effective management performances, polices and practices are in place and adhered to.
- Assist in developing communications for the public, clients, and other stakeholders using social media platforms.
- Assist in the marketing and public relations activities relevant to RPM Safety Programs (i.e. worksite visits introducing the programs and providing progress and updates at meetings)
- Preparing for RPM events and attend these events if needed (during and after work hours)
- Carrying out various office responsibilities when required due to workload or absence coverage.

**Leadership Skills**:

- 3 years in Leadership/Management.
- Ensures positive relationships with team members and stakeholders.
- Self-motivated and able to manage changing priorities.
- Able to work in stressful situations under strict timelines.
- Able to develop short and long term solutions with the goal of ensuring sustainable OHS Programs.

**Applicants Qualifications**:

- Excellent working knowledge of SAFE Work Certified Standards and Procedures
- Excellent working knowledge in risk management, auditing, gap analysis, and adult education training
- Excellent communication, public speaking, and presentation skills
- Ability to understand stakeholder and client’s ensuring OHS program delivery that is industry specific.
- Ability to operate and maintain OHS specific equipment relevant to industrial hygiene.
- A minimum of more than 3 years working in the Safety and Health Field
- Designations related to Safety and Health would be considered an asset.
- Understand the SAFE Work Certified Audit and Maintenance Audit tools as it relates to clients Safety Management Systems
- Understands the regulatory environment of the transportation industry.
- Must have the minimum of a valid Class 5 vehicle driver’s license, a reliable vehicle and be available to travel.
