Tariff and Permit Specialist

**Company Description**
A & A Customs Brokers is seeking an experienced and highly detail-oriented **Tariff and Permit Specialist** to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring compliance with customs regulations, conducting post-entry reviews, and providing expert guidance on HS classifications.
Experience with Global Affairs Permits, particularly in the softwood lumber sector, is highly desirable.
**Job Description** Tariff Classification and Post-Entry Review**:
- Conduct post-entry reviews to ensure ongoing compliance with customs regulations and identify discrepancies or issues.
- Provide expert guidance on HS classification for a variety of goods.
**Global Affairs Permits**:
- Manage and support the acquisition and maintenance of Global Affairs Permits, with a focus on the lumber industry.
- Ensure all permit-related activities comply with Canadian regulations and Global Affairs requirements.
- Act as the primary point of contact for permit-related queries.
**Team Support and Research**:
- Collaborate with other team members to provide research and guidance on complex tariff and customs compliance issues.
- Assist in solving any compliance or classification-related challenges for the team.
**Qualifications**
- ** Experience**: Minimum of 5-10 years in the customs brokerage or trade compliance industry. Experience with Global Affairs Permits, especially in lumber, is a plus.
- ** Certifications**: CCS designation or CTCS (Certified Trade Compliance Specialist_)_ is required.
- ** Skills**:
- In-depth knowledge of General Interpretive Rules for Tariff Classification, Explanatory Notes, and D-Memos.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
- Detail-oriented with high accuracy and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
