**POSITION DESCRIPTION - PROGRAM LEAD, GRIEF SUPPORT SERVICES**

Reporting to the Manager, Grief Support and Spiritual Care Services, the Program Lead, Grief Support Services will be responsible for ongoing Grief and Bereavement program development, implementation, and evaluation. The Program Lead will be the expert in program curriculum and have a strong background in group facilitation. The Program Lead will be the primary point of contact for all contracted and staff group facilitators, ensuring they are well supported in group program delivery. The Program Lead will strive to ensure Grief Support programming at PHS is evidence-based and meets the needs of our clients. The Program Lead will work with outside agencies to provide outreach programming as appropriate. The Program Lead will coordinate with consultants as necessary to ensure program integrity.

**ATTRIBUTES/QUALIFICATIONS**

The Grief Support Services Program Lead must be knowledgeable of/have the ability to:

- Understand theoretical frameworks to support those who are grieving and how to incorporate those frameworks into practice. Experience in grief support and/or palliative care is required.
- Develop group and workshop curriculum based on the target audience and using materials that are evidence informed.
- Provide leadership to contracted facilitators and volunteers who are assisting in group facilitation.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Abides by and demonstrates PHS’s Mission, Vision and Values through both behavior and job performance on a daily basis.
- Course material development for group programming offered by PHS, including (but not limited to): Children, Teen and families, Adult Grief Group, Partner Loss Program, Foundations of Grief and workshops as indicated.
- Implements new programs/workshops as outlined in the program plan.
- Establishes relationships with consultants as needed to ensure high level of expertise in program development and implementation.
- Assists in assessing participant appropriateness for groups as required and informed by best practices in group facilitation.
- Provides training and supervision to contracted group facilitators ensuring they have the necessary preparation and support throughout their groups. The Program Lead will also work closely with volunteers on curriculum content and understanding.
- Develops program material to support community outreach requests and initiatives as required.
- Attends and participates actively in Interdisciplinary Team Meetings, staff meetings, educational in-services, and actively contributes to quality outcome measures.
- Ensure filing of documents and files is kept up to date in a timely manner.
- Reviews and adheres to all company policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required.
- Hours will generally be weekdays, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Hours may vary due to programming, events and/or special projects and may include some evenings and weekends.

**REQUIREMENTS**
- Experience in group facilitation is required.
- Experience in program development is considered a strong asset.
- Current registration with appropriate professional association if applicable.
- Prior non-profit experience an asset.
