In addition to a teaching commitment, the **Junior School Vice Principal - PYP Coordinator** is responsible for operating and developing the PYP programme. This full-time leadership position commences **August 14, 2023**, for the 2023-2024 school year.

**Administrative Duties**
- Assume responsibility of day-to-day operations in the Junior School when the Junior School Principal and Assistant Principal are absent;
- Regularly inform, collaborate and communicate with the Junior School Principal about all aspects related to the Junior School, in coordination with the JS Assistant Principal;
- Identify staffing needs and play a leading and determinative role in the recruitment, hiring and retention of faculty;
- Conduct formal performance evaluations of PYP teachers;
- Oversee, monitor and manage the performance and duties of Teacher Assistants, Behavioural Interventionists and the library technician;
- Oversee teacher accountability for completing all documentation related to the PYP;
- Lead or assist in conflict resolution and/or performance review meetings with faculty members, in conjunction with the Assistant Principal;
- Communicate with the accounts department to ensure IB financial payments are processed;
- Maintain and update accurate student and parent information on Toddle;
- Collaborate with the Communications and Marketing department to promote the value of IB programming to parents;
- In collaboration with the Education Leadership Team, participate in the development of collective bargaining strategy, and assist in development of bargaining proposals relevant to PYP goals and objectives;
- Participate in all major school-related community events;
- Lead co-curricular clubs, as needed;
- Assume a teaching role, as needed;
- Oversee and manage employee performance, including determining appropriate consequential actions, in relation to the Professional Conduct for BC Educator guidelines, as outlined by the Ministry of Education;
- Act in a leading role when the Junior School Principal is off campus.

**Curriculum Development**
- Ensure that goals and expectations of the PYP are clearly documented and communicated;
- Ensure that pedagogical aspects of the PYP are discussed, understood and put into practice;
- Liaise with Toddle to develop and communicate specific needs for digital curriculum mapping and oversee the yearly transition and archiving of units;
- Be aware of current curriculum developments and promote understanding and use of PYP resources;
- Oversee the planning, implementation and reflection process of PYP units, which includes horizontal and vertical planning, and approaches to learning articulation;
- Oversee and update the PYP action plan items, as well as maintain the archive of PYP records from one year to the next, including the PYP Exhibition;
- Oversee Ministry prescribed curriculum development from Kindergarten to Grade 5;
- Manage any other necessary tasks outlined in the IB’s From Principles into Practice and the 2020 Programme standards and practices.

**Teacher Development**
- Evaluate and develop key aspects of teaching and learning, including the integration of technology, from Kindergarten to Grade 5, providing timely, specific and well-considered feedback and guidance to members
- of the teaching team;
- Assist in the process of reviewing the school’s key IB-mandated policies, curriculum documents and library policies and protocols;
- Assist in the development of essential agreements for assessment and for all areas of learning;
- Help manage and monitor assessment and reporting, including integrating multi-levels of technology in the reporting process;
- Model effective inquiry-based pedagogy by teaching research and communication skills to students;
- Take a leading role in editing report cards before publication;
- Manage the process by which staff are made aware of IB professional development opportunities, make recommendations regarding professional development, and maintain a record of workshop attendance and school visits to ensure fair opportunity for staff;
- Assist in recommending exemplary teachers to participate in IB-related opportunities and networks;
- Assist in the induction of new faculty members into the PYP.

**IB Evaluations**
- Assume responsibility for documentation required for PYP evaluations, liaise with the IB to coordinate in-person or virtual evaluation
