**Fundraising and Communication Coordinator**

**Salary**: $36,400 a year

Types: Full-time, 35 hours per week

Contract length: 1 year

Schedule:

- Flexible, 35 hours per week to be determined with the employer
- Some weekend availability may be required occasionally

Work Location:

- To be determined but must be near (approx. 100 km radius) of Gander, NL. You will be expected to report to the Gander and Area SPCA shelter in Gander on a regular basis.

A valid driver’s license and the ability to do some occasional travel in the region is required.

The Gander and Area S.P.C.A. Inc. is a charitable organization whose mission is to advocate on behalf of those who can’t defend themselves. We work tirelessly to help put an end to abuse and neglect and devote ourselves to providing a leadership role in the humane treatment of animals. We are a very small organization and rely mainly on fundraising to cover our expenses and are currently looking to hire a dynamic individual to assist us with enhancing our branding, increasing our online presence, and establishing a viable, sustainable fundraising plan. This job will requires interaction with live animals at the shelter on a regular basis and may involve occasionally care for live animals that may include but are not limited to cats/kittens, dogs/puppies, bunnies, birds, rodents, reptiles, and potentially some non-domesticated animals.

**What are some of the things you will do in this role?**
- Support Gander and Area SPCA Inc. in effective, inclusive, and modern communications. This includes but is not limited to:

- Developing a modern and sustainable communications strategy.
- Creating/maintaining a website, newsletters/infographics, promotional material, etc.
- Support the fundraising efforts of the Gander and Area SPCA Inc. in an effective manner. This may include but is not limited to:

- Developing a viable fundraising plan that may include planning/organizing and executing (or assisting with) fundraising activities/events, including managing/tracking the associated finances.
- Developing and implementing a corporate donor program.
- Spearheaded donor relations, ensuring both corporate and individual partners are recognized and appreciated; this includes engaging and communicating with potential donors (this could be written, by phone, video, or in person and could require some travel in the region).
- Exploring equipment/promotional items to purchase and potentially install/implement the use of equipment that can generate revenue for the Gander and Area SPCA Inc.
- Other:

- Creating an updated look and feel (rebrand) of the Gander SPCA Inc. to be visual and prominent in the online world and in the locality. This may include things like working with a graphics designer, doing some market testing, and hosting focus groups.
- Research and purchase equipment manage budget (make purchases, handle money) to modernize the Gander and Area SPCA. E.g. make recommendations for new computers, tablets, digital payment technology, printers, equipment for fundraising, etc.
- Represent and promote the Gander and Area SPCA Inc. at events.
- Complete other tasks as required.

**Qualifications**:

- Must be able to provide a clean code of conduct and vulnerable sector check.
- High school diploma and proficient communication (oral and written) skills in the English language.
- Any combination of education/training/experience in marketing, communications, business, project management, event planning or similar will be considered for this position.
- Excellent knowledge of social media, including social media best practices and understanding trends, and how to engage followers.
- Ability to be able to update (or potentially create a new) website for the Gander and Area SPCA Inc.
- Ability to communicate with the public/donor/followers and respond to queries/comments in an effective, nonconfrontational, and timely manner.
