**Position Overview**
As the director of Technology Development at Volt-Age, your mission is to bridge the gap between scientific discovery and commercial success, ensuring our breakthroughs technologies for carbon-neutral buildings, advanced energy storage, smart grids, and the electrification of transportation get to commercialization.

Your responsibilities will encompass the strategic development and execution of a comprehensive framework that not only protects intellectual property but also fosters business development and entrepreneurship among our researchers to drive them to market.

Reporting directly to the CEO, the director of Technology Development will collaborate closely with the director of Operations and the director of Living Labs of Volt-Age. This collaboration is essential in ensuring that the mission's vision and objectives are consistently aligned and effectively executed across all technology development projects.

**Responsibilities**
- **Team Leadership and Management**: You will oversee a skilled team of professionals in technology development, intellectual property, and commercialization. Your role involves mentoring and empowering your team to achieve excellence in their respective areas, fostering an environment that encourages innovation, collaboration, and professional growth.
- **Technology Advancement**: With your team, you will guide the development of innovative energy technologies—from advanced battery systems and smart building materials to off-grid solutions and AI-powered energy management systems. Your leadership will ensure these technologies move from initial discovery to market, aligning with Volt-Age’s vision for a sustainable future.
- **Industrial Collaboration**: You will work closely with your team to identify and establish key industrial partnerships that can scale our technologies. This involves strategizing and executing plans to engage with potential partners, leveraging your team's expertise to highlight the commercial and environmental value of our innovations.
- **Intellectual Property Strategy**: Under your direction, your team will develop and implement robust strategies to protect Volt-Age's innovations. This includes overseeing patent filings, managing licensing agreements, and ensuring that our intellectual property strategy aligns with our overall mission and financial objectives.
- **Commercial Viability**: Together with researchers and your team, you will evaluate the commercial potential of innovative technologies, ensuring that innovations not only meet scientific benchmarks but are also aligned with industry needs and market demands.

**Knowledge & Experience**
- Technical Expertise: A strong background in electrification-related fields.
- Business Acumen: A robust business orientation background.
- Substantial experience in IP management and technology transfer.
- Expertise in navigating the entire continuum from research to market realization.
- Over 5 years of senior management experience.

**Skills and Competencies**
- Excellent communication and networking skills, capable of engaging and activating diverse stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills, including the coordination of multiple projects and innovation management.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to identify collaboration and knowledge exchange opportunities.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Proficiency in English, with French being highly desirable. Other languages appreciated.
