Manager, Fraud and Quality Control

OVERVEW
As part of Sagen’s Operations Leadership team, the Manager of Fraud and Quality Control will support the Director, Operational Effectiveness, to drive the successful execution of team strategies, framework & capabilities as they relate to Fraud Prevention and Underwriting Quality Control. The role will help develop, implement, and manage/oversee daily processes, coupled with ongoing portfolio analytics, market research and talent development to optimize operational effectiveness and the customer experience, while managing within risk, compliance, and regulatory confines.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Provide leadership to a team of Fraud Prevention and Quality Control Analysts in all aspects of live and postmortem investigations/file reviews.
- Responsible for all aspect of talent management with a strong focus on coaching and mentoring while strengthening both individual capability and overall bench strength.
- Develop consistency of decisions and ensure that policy and processes are being executed in compliance with internal standard operating procedures and external regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with Director, Operational Effectiveness in the development, implementation and management of strategies to enhance team performance and overall cost savings to the business.
- Develop and implement internal/external fraud detection measures, analytics, reporting and education.
- Develop Key Performance Indicators to measure team and individual productivity while monitoring and reporting team analytics through segmented analysis to identify trends.
- Ensure negative trends in underwriting quality and misrepresentation/fraud are identified, analyzed, and reported.
- Act as a change agent by providing recommendations for process improvements to drive efficiency and enhanced quality in risk management decisions to enhance the customer experience.
- Collaborate with Underwriting, Risk, Loss Mitigation and Sales to further develop early fraud prevention programs/tools.
- Work closely with Underwriting Management to develop action plans where compliancy results are below internal thresholds.
- Drive timely escalation, follow up and resolution process on potential misrepresentation files with our lender partners.
- Manage problem accounts using creative/innovative solutions and recommend changes to policy/procedure.
- Participate/Facilitate fraud Prevention “best practice” meetings with international peers & industry partners to maintain up to date industry trends
- Ensure the lenders are knowledgeable of and operate within established Genworth and Industry policy and guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skill Set
- University degree with a minimum of 7+ years mortgage industry or financial services experience required.
- Demonstrates strong leadership, teamwork, and negotiation skills, as well as effective communication, facilitation and presentation abilities
- Act as a strong connector who creates strong relationships with key partners both internally and externally.
- Comprehensive and excellent hands-on knowledge of mortgage underwriting, credit analysis and risk/fraud management.
- In depth knowledge of Canadian mortgage insurance products and services.
- Demonstrates excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret customer needs.
- Organized and customer centric
