**We are looking to add an Analytical Chemist to our team**
Analytical Chemist analyses raw materials, work-in-process materials, and finished products to ensure that all products meet the quality standards of Derma Sciences Canada Inc. Must be knowledgeable of analytical instrumentation and wet chemistry techniques. Various techniques (e.g. assay, titration, viscosity, pH and spectrophotometry) are utilized within the Quality Control Laboratory to ensure cGMP and GLP compliance.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Perform analysis of chemical raw materials and in-process samples using wet chemical and general laboratory instruments. Interpret test data. Release the in-process materials for manufacturing according to the specifications.
- Conduct laboratory testing of sterile and non-sterile finished products for release.
- Prepare and submit samples for shipment to third party laboratory when necessary.
- Ensure laboratory records are complete and accurate.
- Conduct regular equipment (i.e pH meter) calibrations.
- Perform standardization of volumetric solutions when necessary.
- Interact and coordinate activities with other departments and external vendors to support and meet the facility goals and objectives, especially related to material releasing.
- Ensure availability of chemical supplies required for in-house laboratory testing.
- Maintain a tidy and organized laboratory.
- Initiate Incident or Discrepancy Reports for any applicable non-conformances. Participate in Out-of-Specification (OOS) investigations and help to identify root cause.
- Participate in preparing/reviewing SOPs and other documentation.
- Train and mentor co-workers as required.
- Participate in quality audits and all required training.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures and appropriate regulations, including FDA and ISO 9001, ISO 13485, CMDR and the Medical Device Directive.
- Perform other related duties as required.
**DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
- Bachelor’s degree, in Chemistry, Pharmacy or related field.
- 1-2 years of experience or equivalent academic laboratory work.
- Capable of effective written and verbal communication.
- Must be able to work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Knowledge of MS Office Suite.
