CMHA Kelowna is hiring a full time Family Navigator to join the Foundry Kelowna Team. This position if full time offering 35 hours per week, with a typical work week of Monday to Friday, 9:30am-5:00pm.

**WHO IS A FAMILY NAVIGATOR?**

The Family Navigator is responsible for providing navigation support and services to parents/caregivers with a child, youth or dependent young adult with mental health and/or substance misuse issues. This includes one to one, and group work designed to identify and access community resources, and build skills, knowledge, and connections to assist them in their caregiving role.

**WHAT DOES A FAMILY NAVIGATOR DO?**
- Meets with Parents/Family Caregivers within Foundry Kelowna and in the community;
- Answers calls from caregivers and assists in navigation of services supports available for both youth and family;
- Completes a caregiver assessment with parents and caregivers to identify the needs of the caregiver and family;
- Identifies available social, economic, recreational, and educational services and resources in the community that will meet participant’s needs.
- Provides participants with related information;
- Works collaboratively with the caregiver to define goals;
- Advocates for participants by problem solving in areas such as accessing community resources, assisting with connection to other community supports and navigation of systems.
- Completes and maintains related records and documentation such as case files, progress reports, statistics, and daily logs;
- Workshop and group facilitation for parents and caregivers;
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary, integrated team, which can include joint planning, collaboration in the interests of the families and caregivers, client centred care offering a seamless service to the families and caregivers;
- Performs other duties as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE**:

- Diploma in Community/Social/Human Services;
- Recent related experience of two years or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience or other qualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work;
- Class V BC Driver’s License;
- First Aid certification (w/ CPR);
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position;
- Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others;
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing;
- Ability to organize and prioritize;
- Ability to observe and recognize changes in Caregivers and families;
- Ability to establish and maintain rapport with Caregivers and families
- Ability to work as a team
- Ability to analyze and resolve problems;
- Conflict resolution.
